Ross Wilson @ Koala Tavern

On Saturday June 24th I went to the Koala Tavern Capalaba to see legendary Australian singer-songwriter Ross Wilson which it was 8th time seeing him live and last time I saw him live at the APIA Good Times Show at the QPAC Concert Hall Friday May 31st 2019. I caught the bus to Capalaba, walk to the Koala Tavern, went to the Bistro, rang home, had Nachos for dinner, drank Pepsi Max, ate sticky caramel and ice cream, saw Kay from Bay FM 100.3, met Jackie who also works at BAY FM 100.3, stood in line, went inside , drank Coke with No Sugar, write notes, use mobile and the support act Tom Roberts an local singer came on stage which he did covers as well as original songs which he was on stage for 40 minutes. There was an interval which I drank Coke with No Sugar and use mobile. Then at 9.14pm Ross Wilson came on stage for the next one hour and 30 minutes he performed many of his hits from the Daddy Cool era as well as the Mondo Rock era as well as some new songs as he has an EP coming u

Digger Revell @ Southport Yacht Club

On Friday July 28th legendary Australian singer Digger Revell will be performing at the Southport Yacht Club on 1 MacArthur Parade Main Beach and it will be an dinner and show which dinner starts at 6pm and the show will start @ 7.30pm. This is the posthumous memoir of Australian record producer and sound engineer Tony Cohen and in this book talked about his upbringing in Melbourne, got an drum in the early 70's, played in an band called Epitaph, starting work experience at Armstrong Studios which eventually worked there doing odd jobs and promoted to mono dubbing boy, becoming an engineer as well as producer, working with Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, JIm Keays, Cat Stevens, Chad Morgan, The Ferrets, The Cruel Sea, Lobby Loyde, Nick Cave with the Boys Next Door, The Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, his issues with drugs and many others. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with impressive and very entertaining stories which it is well worth an read. Tony Cohen passed away in 2017 and John Olson hepled with the book as well too. This is an must for Australian music fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed

This is the new compilation CD by legendary Scottish rock band Texas and on this double CD it has the hit singles including I Don't Want A Lover, Black Eyed Boy, Sleep, In Our Lifetime, Inner Smile as well a ssongs from from the Jump On Board (2017) and Hi (2021) albums as well as 2 new songs After All and Keep On Talking which was recorded for this compilation. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs which has stood the test of time which they still sound great today as it did back then. The band with original members Sharleen Spiteri and Johnny McElhone are doing acoustic shows in the UK to celebrate the release the album as well as Q&A with Sharleen Spiteri behind the songs and stories and are also doing shows in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium this month, July and August. The Who With Orchestra Live At Wembley

This is the live album by legendary British rock band the Who and this was recorded live at the Wembley Stadium in London on July 6th 2019 which they headlined a sell out show for the first time in 40 years and the 57 piece Isobel Griffiths Orchestra accompained the Who who performed many of the classics including Who Are You, Pinball Wizard, an Acoustic version of Won't Get Fooled again, Baba O'Riley and many others. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with great singing and playing by the Who as well as the orchestra who do it just brilliantly and the songs are FANTASTIC which suits actually on it too. The live album has gone to number 16 in Germany and the Who with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend along with his brother Simon Townshend, Zak Starkey, Loren Gold , Jon Button and Billy Nicholls are performing in France on Friday, UK and Scotland next month and an UK show in August with the orchestra. Last Tuesday June 13th I went to Twin Towns to see the Legends of Rock and Roll Show with Issi Dye, Glenn Douglas, Sharon Lee (who does an Olivia Newton John tribute) and Tony Worsley which it was my first time seeing Sharon but seen Issi and Glenn @ Cooly Rocks On at Greenmount Surf Club and Tony Worsley an year ago @ Twin Towns on Tuesday June 7th last year. I caught the bus to South Bank, went to South Bank Train Station, caught train to Varsity Lakes, caught bus to Coolangatta rang Dad and walk to Twin Towns. Went to the 5th floor, saw Anne Worsley(Tony's wife), went inside and write notes. The show started after 11am with Issi Dye and Glenn Douglas coming on backed up by Andre Els who plays with the Delltones tribute show and Les on drums started doing 2 songs, Sharon Lee who does an Olivia Newton John tribute show came on which she sang some of Olivia's big hits from the 70's and 80's and put on an an hat during her set, Issi and Glenn came on stage doing the E

On Saturday night June 10th I went to Twin Towns to see the legendary British rock band 10cc which it was my 3rd time seeing them as I have seen them at Twin Towns as well. I walk to Twin Towns, Bought program and Bag, bought Pepsi Max, drank it, went inside, use mobile and wrote notes on my pad. The show started at 8pm with support act Hello Jane who is an singer-songwriter from Brisbane who did an set doing her own songs as well as covers of I'm On Fire by Bruce Springsteen and People Get Ready by the Impressions which was the last song of her set and there was an interval which I stayed inside and use my mobile. Then after 9pm 10CC with the current line up with original founding member Graham Gouldman, Paul Burgess since 1973, Rick Fenn since 1976, Keith Hyman and Iain Hornal came on stage and for the hour and 50 minutes performed many of their classic hits from the 70's as well as an new song Graham Gouldman did called Floating In Heaven which he did that with Brian May

On Saturday Afternoon June 10th I went to the Dixon Street Stage to see the Adelaide band Lucky Seven doing the Lucky Comets an tribute to Bill Haley and His Comets which it's my 3rd time seeing them as I saw twice @ Cooly Rocks On 2021 at Greenmount Surf Club on Thursday June 10th 2021 doing the Bill Haley tribute and Saturday night June 12th 2021 at the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage just as Lucky Seven. the show started at 1pm and for the next 1 hour and 15 minutes they did the classic Bill Haley songs from the 50's including Rock Around the Clock, Thirteen Women, Shake Rattle and Roll, Mambo Rock and the Freddie Bell and the Bell Boys song Giddy Up A Ding Dong and many others . the players in the Lucky Comets(Lucky Seven) are just Amazing players with great saxophone sounds and an great guitar sound with the drummer coming on stage playing the drumsticks on the bass string just amazing and they do the songs with great respect and do it so well. On Saturday morning June 10th I went to the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage to see Kenny and the Nitro Rockers who are an band from Bundaberg which has an female double bass player and it was their first time at Cooly ROcks On. The show started @ 9.30am and for the next 1 hour and 15 minutes they performed songs by Johnny Burnette, Conway Twitty, Warren Smith, Billy Lee Riley and Buddy Holly as well as some of their own songs from their EP CD and everyone haviong an great time dancing and enjoying themselves as well as me seeing someone I knew from Kedron Wavell. Shawn Klush @ the Elvis Precinct

On Friday night June 9th I went to the ELvis Precinct to see Shawn Klush an American Elvis tribute performer which was my first time seeing him there. I bought Coke with No Sugar, drank it, went inside and use mobile. Kay came on stage to introduced Shawn and Shawn Klush came on stage after 7.30pm which for the next 1 hour and 23 minutes he performed many of Elvis Presley's classics backed up by the 2 IC band wearing the white gear that Elvis wore in the 70's as well as having an sense of humour and entertaing the audience by giving them the scarves to the people in the audience. The show finished @ 8.53pm which Kay mentioned only the people who the VIP tickets would get the photos with Shawn and the rest of the us missed out which I was disappointed but it was what it was, rang Dad and went back to Ocean Plaza. Little Stevie's 60's Sensation @ the Coolangatta Sands Hotel

On Friday June 9th I went to the Coolangatta Sands Hotel to see Brisbane group Little Stevie and the Tail Fins doing the 60's Sensation show and I have not not seen the band live since Sunday June 11th 2017 at Twin Towns. The show started @ 12pm and they did 2 sets doing the 60's classics which in the first set they performed hits from the 60's by Creedence, Hermans Hermits, Elvis, The Kinks, Dave Clark Five, The Easybeats and The Searchers and there was an interval which I used my mobile and saw Geoff who is from Little Stevie and the Tail Fins. In the Second set the band played songs by the Beatles, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, The Monkees, Manfred Mann and Chubby Checker and everyone enjoying themeselves dancing on the floor as the place was getting packed. The show finished at 2pm which I then hello to Stephen and it was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had an great time as well as the band were FANTASTIC playing great songs from an great era which still lives

The Pacific Belles at the Queen Elizabeth Stage

On Friday morning June 9th I went to the Queen Elizabeth Park stage to see local group the Pacific Belles which was my 2nd time seeing them as I first also at Cooly ROcks On 2021 at the same place 2 years ago on Friday June 11th 2021. I walked to the Queen Elizabeth Park stage, saw Lorraine who I know from rockabilly and the show started at 9.30am which the Pacific Belles came on stage as they were on stage for an hour and 15 minutes doing the songs by the Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse and Oasis which they did those songs so very well with their wonderful harmonies as well as dressed in the 40's era and was really enjoying themselves having an great time. the show finished at 10.45am and it was FANTASTIC with great singing by the ladies who do it so very well and the way they do the songs it is just brilliant. I look forward to seeing them live again and hope they do an show in Brisbane in the future as well as doing another Cooly Rocks On appearance. To those

Issi Dye and Glen Douglas at Greenmount Surf Club

Last Thursday Night June 8th I went to the Greenmount Surf Club to see legendary Australian singer Issi Dye and Glen Douglas which it was my 2nd time this year seeing them. The show started at 7pm with Issi and Glen coming on stage which they did 2 sets which in the first set did songs by Johnny Cash, Bobby Darin, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley and there was an interval which I saw Tyler who was there with Leanne and had an coke with no Sugar and Milky Bar. In the second set they did songs by the Beatles, Billy Ray Cyrus, Buddy Holly which early in the 2nd set Scott Cameron who does an Buddy Holly tribute show came on stage and performed It's So Easy which he sounded as I have not seen him live since 2011 and Ricky Nelson also reminded the audience about the show on Tuesday June 13th at Twin Towns as well as the show at the Queen Elizabeth Park stage on Sunday. Jimmy Holmes and Mark Anthony Present the King On Stage 1968-72 at the Elvis Precinct Coolangatta

On Wednesday night June 7th I went to the Elvis Precinct in Coolangatta to see the Elvis tribute show The King On Stage 1968-1972 with Jimmy Holmes from America and Mark Anthony from Australia based in Queensland which it was Jimmy's first trip coming to Australia and it was my time seeing them both live. I went to Little Cooly for dinner which I had BBQ Pork, potatoes, corn and slaw and went to Baskin Robbins where I had an Sundae for desert and walk to the Elvis Precinct. Went inside, write notes and us my phone. The show started after 7.30pm with Kay Shannon coming out to introduced the acts and there was an diffrent back band this year for the Elvis tribute acts which was the 2IC Band which the first act was Mark Anthony who did the 1968 Comeback Special that Elvis did and performed the songs he performed on the show which he did an great set wearing the black leather gear and even did the sit down segment. Burnin by John Lee Hooker

In March 1962 American blues singer John Lee Hooker released the album Burnin which was recorded in Chicago at Universial Recording Corporation October 26th produced by Calvin Carter and the backing band was the Funk Brothers who played on many of the Motown records in the 60's and from this album had the hit single Boom Boom which was later an hit for the Animals in 1964 which the album is out now on CD. Besides from the original tracks from the album both mono and stereo and it has an bonus track which it;s the alternate take of Thelma. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs and it is still sounds great today which holds up very well as well as being bluesy and the great guitar sound. It's being 22 years this year since the passing of John Lee Hooker but the great music he made lives on forever and still an influence for many blues musicians. This is written by Billy Stanley step brother of rock and roll singer Elvis Presley and in this book talks about first meeting Elvis Presley in 1960 , Elvis introducing Billy and his brothers to Prayer and Bible reading, his mother marrying Vernon Presley, life on the road and home with the brothers with it's ups and downs, Elvis' faith as well as his passion for shearing God's love with many as people as possible and many others. It is excellent and very entertainng as well as very impressive which it's well worth an read and highly recommend it. Yesterday afternoon June 4th I went to the QPAC Concert Hall in South Brisbane to see the Good Old Days of Rock and Roll Show that had legends of Australian and Kiwi rock Dinah Lee, Digger Revell, Jade Hurley, Little Pattie and Lucky Starr which the last time I saw Dinah and Jade was at the Redlands Performance Arts Center Friday March 12th 2021, Little Pattie at Twin Towns for the Go Show concert Friday December 8th 2017, Lucky Starr at the Go Show concert @ QPAC Concert Hall Thursday May 2nd 2019 and Digger Revell at the Rainbow Bay Surf Club Sunday June 11th 2017. I walk from the city to South Brisbane, went to newsagent where I bought an Pen, went to QPAC, put bag in cloakroom, write notes, saw John Rutherberg and Robyn, went inside and use my mobile. This is the new posthumous album by legendary American country singer Kenny Rogers and the 8 of the 10 tracks on the album were unreleased from the Kenny Rogers including an version of the Temptations 1968 hit I Wish It Would Rain and Eric Clapton's 1970's hit Wonderful Tonight as well as duets with Dolly Parton, Jamie O'Neal and Kim Keyes and there is an second CD which has his hits from 70's and 80's including the Gambler, Lady amd Lucille as well a sduets with Kim Carnes and Dottie West. It is excellent with great songs with fine vocal performances by Kenny considering been in the archives and an it is well worth listening too. It's been 3 years since Kenny Rogers' passing but has left an lot of great music that has stood the test of time and is just as good today as it did back then.
