Normie Rowe @ Easts Leagues Club 1971

As I do music research every week at the State Lirbary every week I would like to post an advert from the Telegraph July 16th 1971 promoting Normie Rowe's show at the Easts Leagues Club July 18th 1971 on the Sunday as for many years in the 70's and 80's had Australian entertainers playing at the club and at Normie's show that weekend in JUly 1971 the support acts were Donna Black, Heritage and the Jelly Roll Big Band.

On Sunday September 11th the Australian Buddy Holly Show that has Chris Knight backed up by Gail Kelle and Bill Hillman will be performing at the Wynnum Bowls Club which will be starting at 2pm and it costs 25 dollars. He does the Buddy Holly classics as well as rock and roll classics and gets everybody entertained which you will be impressed and entertained. Frankie Davidson

Just last weekend I saw on Facebook about the sad passing of Australian singer Frankie Davidson aged 88 which was very sad to hear that. He was one of the first Australian singers to record rock and roll which he did an EP with Max Bostock and His Rockets on the Danceland label called Rock and Roll With Frank Davidson and recorded for the W&G label from 1959-64 which included I Care For You(NO 56 Australia, number 33 Melbourne and 31 Perth 1960), Just For Today (number 56 Australia number 33 Melbourne in 1961), Yabba Dabba Doo (number 42 Australia number 14 Adelaide number 33 Melbourne and number 16 Perth 1961), Have You Ever Been To See Kings Cross(no 8 Australia and number 6 Brisbane 1962 which Colin Cook played sax on it) and many others. Did appearances on TV shows like IMT(In Melbourne Tonight), the Hi FI Club on Channel 9 hosted by Bert Newton, Bandstand hosted by Brian Henderson and many others. This afternoon I went to the movies at South Bank Cinema where I saw the movie Where The Crawdads Sing. On Sunday I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the movie The Phantom Of The Open.
