Buddy Love and the Tremors @ Easts Leagues Club

 On Friday January 8th 2021 local group Buddy Love and the Tremors will be playing at Easts Leagues Club  which the show will start @ 7.30pm and it will last until 11.30pm. They do an mixture of rock and roll of the 50's, 60's and 70's as well as country music and always put on an FANTASTIC which gets everyone going. The Rockin Bodgies @ Easts Leagues Club

 On Sunday January 3rd local group the Rockin Bodgies is going to be playing @ Easts Leagues Club Coorparoo  which will start @ 1pm until 5pm  and it's an free show. They do classic rock and roll of the 50's and 60's and country music  and they get the crowd going. The band have around since 1997 with lead singer Mike Page and also has Kerion McLaughlin on Bass and are going strong as ever. If you want to see them please do yourselves an favour and SEE THEM which you will be impressed and entertained. 

Issi Dye and Glenn Douglas @ Wynnum Bowls Club

 On Saturday January 9th and Sunday January 10th 2021 legendary Australian singer Issi Dye along with Melbourne singer Glenn Douglas will be performing at the Wynnum Bowls Club  which they will do an Roy Orbison and Everly Brothers tribute and they will do the classic songs of those acts which still endures to this day.  The shows starts @ 7pm Saturday and 2pm on Sunday and it costs $22.00 and if you would like to go do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed.

  About 4 weeks ago New Zealand and Australian music lost another music legend with the passing of Bill Cate member of the legendary NZ singing duo Bill and Boyd aged 80 as he had prostate cancer as well as dementia. Bill Cate and Boyd (William)Robertson attended Naenae College in Lower Hutt where they met in 1957 and shared an passion of music  which they formed the duo Bill and Boyd. They performed at local dances and charity events at Lower Hutt including Lower Hutt Town Hall as well as being an support act for Johnny Devlin at the wellington Town Hall in 1959 . They began recording for Peak in 1960  which they released 5 singles including an version of Cathy's Clown, Fall In Love With You and So Sad and then recorded for Phillips in 1961 including versions of I Wanna Love My Love Away, Corrina Corrina, Crying In the Rain and others as well as releasing 2 albums Swinging Together and Songs For A Cloudy Sunny Afternoon.  they were on the bill of Harry M Miller's Showtime Spec

Keith Richards and the X-Pensive Winos Live at the Hollywood Palladium December 15th 1988

 This is an reissue of the live album that Keith Richards with his band the X-Pensive Winos did which was released in 1991 as there are several editions that has come out and the one I am reviewing is the single CD edition. On this live album he performs his solo work that he put out at the time in 1988 including Take It So Hard, How I Wish , I Could Have Stood You Up as well as Rolling Stones classics including Time Is On My Side, Connection and Happy as well as having an great band backing him up which included Bobby Keyes on Sax, Sarah Dash who was from Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles and Charley Drayton who currently plays with Australian rock band Cold Chisel. It'[s FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs as well as an great band and an great sound which holds up so well to this day. Kurt Loder does the liner notes and it went to number 30 in the German charts. This is a must for Rolling Stones fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops so do yourselves

The Live Tapes Vol 5 by Cold Chisel

 This is the live album by legendary Australian rock band Cold Chisel and this was recorded at Bondi Lifesaver in Bondi Junction February 29th 1980 3 days before started making    their landmark album East as well as 6 months before the venue closed which it was captured on 2 multitrack tapes. On this live album they performed many classics they had out at that stage including Choirgirl, Khe Sanh, Breakfast At Sweethearts, Star Hotel as well as covers including Shakin All Over and Wild Thing. It's AWESOME, ROCKIN, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with great songs and an great sound which holds up so good to this day  as well as an great live sound. This album is currently at number 5 on the Australian charts and let's hope it goes higher. This is an must for Cold Chisel fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will love it.

 This is the documentary about legendary Australian country singer Slim Dusty and his wife singer-songwriter   which has interviews with people like Missy Higgins, Keith Urban, Troy Casser Daly, Chad Morgan, Slim and Joy's children David and Ann, Kasey Chambers  and her Dad Bill and Joy talks about her start in the music business with her sister Heather, her marriage to Slim Dusty, the touring years, writing songs and many others. It's FANTASTIC BRILLIANT and SUPERB  with amazing stories as well as impressive and entertaining and on this DVD it has 4 special features including 2 that were not in the documentary. It is directed by Kriv Stenders and Joy was one of the executive producers on the documentary. This DVD is an must for Slim Dusty fans as well as Australian country music fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed. 

The War With Grandpa

 This afternoon I went to the South Bank Cinema where I saw the movie The War With Grandpa. Ed (Robert DeNiro) who is an widower and  accidently  stealing from an grocery store having troubles with self check outs as well as causing an scene with one of the staff members movies with his daughter Sally (Uma Thurman) and her family which he is given her son Peter's(Oakes Fegley) room  and Peter does not like it as he is sleeping in the attic. He plans an war with his grandfather to get his room back while Ed turns to his friends Danny(Cheech Marin) and Jerry (Christopher Walken)  for advice  as well as befriending Diane (Jane Seymour) and it gets interesting. It's FANTASTIC, very funny and very entertaining with great acting by Robert DeNiro, Uma Thurman, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour, Cheech Martin, Rob Riggie, Laura Marino and Poppy Gagnon. It's directed by Tim Hill and produced by Marvin Peart, Rosa Morris Peart and Phillip Glasser. I give it 4 stars as it's in the

Issi Dye and Danny Mayers @ Wynnum Bowls Club

 This afternoon I went to Wynnum Bowls Club to see legendary Australian Issi Dye along with Danny Mayers former lead singer of the legendary Australian singing group the Delltones and it was my second time seeing Issi as I saw him with Tony Worsley at Twin Towns on Tuesday January 14th this year. I caught the train from the city to Wynnum Central, walk to the bowls club, fill in form, bought Coke Zero, went to an table, saw Issi and Les, drank Coke Zero, saw Danny Mayers which I had an conversation with him and waited. The Show started after 2pm with Issi coming on first  which he did songs by Johnny O'Keefe, Col Joye and Johnny Ray as well as telling stories about the people he worked with and then Danny Mayers come which he did bit of Delltones, Drifters and Four Seasons and also mentioned me as one of the supporters for both of them. There was an interval which I met James who worked at the ABC doing audio, ate chips and drank Coke Zero and then there was the second set which Is

A Promised Land by Barack Obama

 This is the memoir of former American President Barack Obama and in  this book he talks  about working as an community organizer in Chicago, studying in Harvard, meeting future wife Michelle, being Senator of Illinois, becoming the 44th President of the United States in 2008 becoming the first black man to achieve that and it talks about his first term  which including encounters with Ted Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth II, Bob Dylan as well as tackling Wall Street Reform, clashing with the Generals about the US strategy in Afghanistan,  authorized Operation Neptune's Spear which leads to the death of Osama bin Laden and others. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB as well as very candid and open about his first term as well as tells it very honestly  and it is well worth an read. I give it 4 and an half stars and it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IYT which you'll be amazed.

I Can Dream by Max Merritt

 This is the new album by legendary New Zealand and Australian music legendary singer Max Merritt and this album was mainly recorded in Los Angeles between 2011-20 as well as 3 tracks were recorded in Melbourne in 2002 and it is all original songs written by Max which one he wrote with Men At Work member Colin Hay 3 he co wrote with Larry Murray and 1 with Todd Cerney. It's an FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs and an great an vocal performance by Max despite his health issues. Max as we all know passed away 2 months ago but the great music he made will live on forever and this album was already done which got the blessings of the Merritt family to have it out. This is Max's first album release in 40 years when he released the Black Plastic Max album  in 1980  and it was produced by Jim "Jimbo" Barton who has worked with Matchbox 20, Enya, Eric Clapton and Kate Bush amongst others. Let's get this album into the charts in a way to say thank to Max
