Promising Young Woman

 This afternoon I went to the South Bank to see the movie Promising Young Woman.  Cassie Turner (Carey Mulligan) is an 30 year old young woman who lives with her parents, working in an coffee shop and going to the clubs pretending to be drunk in an effort for an man to take her home. She had  been in Medical School with friend Nina Fisher who got raped  by an classmate and the school and the legal system had failed which she dropped out to help her. She encounters an old  school friend Ryan Cooper(Bo Burnham)  who goes with him and then is told that another school Al Monroe (Chris Lowell) is getting married Cassi plans revenge to those who were responsible for what happened to Nina  including Madison(Alison Brie) and  Dean Elizabeth Walker (Connie Britton)  and then it gets interesting. It's gripping, Fantastic and Brilliant with top and Brilliant acting by Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Chris Lowell, Connie Britton, Clancy Brown, Jennifer Coolidge, Adam Brody and Laverne

Chasing The Light Oliver Stone

  This is the memoir of legendary American director Oliver Stone and he talks about his upbringing in New York, going to Boarding School in Pennsylvania, his parents' divorce, serving in the Army in Vietnam, studying @ NYU, his first 2 marriages, driving taxis, achieving success as an screenwriter  winning the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Midnight Express as well as doing the Screenplay for Scarface, Conan The Barbarian  as well as the movies he directed including The Hand Platoon which would  him the Oscar for Best Director in 1986 and many others. It's an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT book as well as very entertaining and impressive as well as an enjoyable read as well as telling it honestly going through the experiences in the 60's, 70's and 80's. This is an must for movie fans and I giving it 4 and an half stars as it is in the shops now so do yourselves and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed. 

Fogerty's Factory by John Fogerty

 This is the new album of legendary American singer-songwriter and member of the legendary American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival John Fogerty. When the world was hit by Covid 19 in March last year John Fogerty along with his 2 sons Shane and Tyler and Daughter Kelsy performed in their home studio to play music  which would lead to this album  as it was intended to be an EP and  it has an mixture of Creedence classics as well as John Fogerty solo classics as well an cover of the Bill Withers classic hit Lean On Me  as well as doing Centerfield that was performed at Dodgers' Stadium as well as doing NPR Tiny Desk concert and a Sirius XM radio special. It's an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT album with great songs which John and his family do an FANTASTIC performance. John Fogerty did the arranging and producing the album and his wife Julie also produced it too. This is an must for John Fogerty and Creedence Clearwater Revival fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops

Penguin Bloom

 On Tuesday (Australia Day) I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the new Australian movie Penguin Bloom. Sam Bloom (Naomi Watts) an young woman with 3 sons  whose life has changed after an near fatal accident while on holiday in Thailand  which she is paralyzed after hurting her back and her husband Cameron(Andrew Lincoln) and their 3 sons Noah( Griffin Murray Johnson), Rueben (Felix Cameron) and Oli (Abe Clifford Farr) find solace and hope by finding an injured Magpie  chick who they called Penguin  back to health  and Sam  who is depressed as well as angry  by breaking things  starts to bond with Penguin which starts an process of emotional healing which her family including her mother Jan (Jackie Weaver) are surprised  and then it gets interesting. It's sad, touching, Fantastic and Brilliant with top and Brilliant acting by Naomi Watts, Andrew Lincoln, Jackie Weaver, Griffin Murray Johnson, Felix Cameron, Abe Clifford Farr, Lisa Hensley and Rachel House. Audrey More Than A Icon

 This is the documentary about legendary actress Audrey Hepburn and in this documentary that is on DVD it talks about her life including being abandoned by Her Father, growing up in Holland during World War 2, going through malnutrition, wanting to be an dancer but didn't happened, becoming an actress who would achieve great success with films like Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Funny Face, Breakfast At Tiffany's etc, her 2 marriages, getting involved with UNCIEF and many others as well as interviews with  her son Sean, granddaughter Emma, Clare Waight Keller, Richard Dryfuss, Mita Ungao and many others. It's impressive, FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC stories as well as very impressive, sad, touching and entertaining and an enjoyable one too. It was directed by Helena Coan. This is an must for movie fans and I give it 4 and an half stars which it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT and you will be amazed and impressed. 

Part One Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround by the Kinks

 It was 50 years ago in November 2020 when the Kinks' album Part One Versus Powerman and The Moneygoround  was released  which it went to number 35 in the USA and number 24 in Australia and from that album had 2 big hit singles Lola and Apeman and it restored the band back into the public eye as they went through an transitional period. The album has been re-issued as an double CD and on the double CD which it has the original tracks as well as Mono Mix versions of the singles as well as Alternate Versions and Mixes  of  the songs including some live ones and an great booklet with info as well as memorabilia and photos. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with great songs and an great sound which has stood the test of time and it is just as timeless today as it did back then which you can get tired of hearing these classics. I am giving it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will love it and it is an must for fans of the Kinks.

 This is the new album by Bee Gees member Barry Gibb and this was recorded at RCA Studios Nashville. This album features re-imagings of Bee Gees mostly the classics  including Words with Dolly Parton, Too Much Heaven with Allison Krauss, I've Gotta Get A Message To You with Keith Urban,  Rest Your Love On Me with Olivia Newton John and How Can You Mend A Broken Heart with Sheryl Crowe as well as an song called Butterfly  with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings which Australian singer  Ronnie Burns did it  as an album on his debut album Ronnie in 1967. It's an FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB album with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT songs with great voices blending together and it's just so Brilliant. This album was produced by Barry's son Stephen Gibb and Dave Cobb and this has gone to number 1 in the UK and Australia and number 15 in the USA . Johnny Cash and the London Philharmonic Orchestra

 This is the new posthumous album by legendary American country singer Johnny Cash and this was done at Abbey Road Studios London. It combines Johnny Cash's original recordings from the 50's, 60''s, 70's and 80's with the Philharmonic Orchestra  and Nick Patrick was the producer on the album with Don Redman and Johnny Cash's son John Carter Cash was the executive producer along with Josh Matas. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with an FANTASTIC combination of the songs and the orchestra  which works so brilliantly an great effort again. It went to number 8 in the UK and number 12 in Australia. It will be 18 years this September since Johnny Cash passed away but the great music he made lives on and this  is an great example. This is an must for Johnny Cash fans and country music fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

 This is the memoir of former Army Officer and Australian Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and in this book he talks about his growing up in Paddington NSW, Going to Royal Military College in Duntroon, joining the army  which he saw action in Vietnam and would win the Military Cross, helping with the aftermath of Cyclone Tracy in Darwin as well as Cyclone Larry in Queensland in 2006, becoming the Chief of the  Defense Force, leading the peacekeeping mission (INTERFET) in East Timor in 1999, becoming Governor General of Australia in 2014 which would last until 2019, going through 3 Prime Ministers, meeting royalty and politicians and many others. It's an FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and an SUPERB book with FANTASTIC and Entertaining stories as well as very impressive and an FANTASTIC read. I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed. 

Issi Dye and Glenn Douglas at Wynnum Bowls CLub

 On Friday January 15th I went to Wynnum Bowls Club where I saw legendary Australian singer Issi Dye and Melbourne singer Glenn Douglas doing The Roy Orbison and Everly Brothers tribute show which it's my 5th time seeing Glenn and only saw Issi last month also at Wynnum Bowls Club for the afternoon show with former Delltones singer Danny Mayers. I caught the bus from my place to Wynnum, walk to the club, signed in, saw Issi Dye, ordered my dinner and had an conversation with Danny Mayers. Had Chicken Schnitzel, Chips and Salad for dinner, drank Coke and waited. The show started after 7pm with Issi started singing an few songs and then Glenn  coming out in the Roy Orbison gear joining Issi and did the classic Roy Orbison songs from the 60's to the 80's  as well as doing the Elvis song the Wonder Of You as well as Issi telling about working with Roy and when they did Pretty Woman Issi put on the Elvis glasses. Gerry Marsden

 On Monday I heard the sad news about Gerry Marsden of the legendary British rock group of the 60's Gerry and The pacemakers passed away on 4KQ and they played some of the big hits like Ferry Cross The Mersey and How Do You Do It. I first heard of Gerry and the Pacemakers in the early 90's mainly through 4KQ on Jukebox Saturday Night as well as having an Time Life tape of 1964 which I had I'm the One and I didn't actually have an greatest hits CD of Gerry and the Pacemakers until 1995 when I bought one in early that year at K Mart Cannon Hill  when in those times you can get CD's. I got to see Gerry Marsden live 4 times which the first was at the British 60's concert at Festival Hall Brisbane Saturday February 11th 1995 with an friend Emma and I remember he and the Pacemakers were the last act on the bill which they did many of the hits which I remember it started with How Do You Do It as well as the other classics before finishing the set I think with You'l

Toby Tyler and the Country Boys @ Carina Leagues Club

 On New Years Eve I went to Carina Leagues to see Toby Tyler and the Country Boys which it was my 3rd time seeing them as well as second time on New Years Eve seeing them there as they played at the club also on New Years Eve 2019 and also it was my first going to  see a show there at the club since February 14th last year when I saw the Doris Day tribute with Melly Melody. Dad took me to the club, went to the Cafe, Had Steak, chips and salad for dinner, drank Coke, ate M&M's, saw Leanne and Joy, sat on a chair in the pokies  area(No I did not play Pokies) and sat at an table with Leanne and Joy. The show started at 8.30pm with Toby Tyler and the Country Boys doing 4 sets doing an mixture of country and rock and roll by ZZ Top, Elvis Presley, Everly Brothers, Matchbox, Johnny Cash and others as well as having the fireworks at 9pm and having 20 people on the dance floor after each song (different people) due to the rules with Covid. The Dry

 I went to South Bank Cinema to see the new Australian film The Dry. Aaron Falk (Eric Bana) an Federal agent who after 20 years returns to his home town to attend the funeral of his friend Luke(Martin Dingle Wall) who with his wife and child were killed investigates the came along with Sgt Raco (Keir O'Donnell) and when he asked the people questions  they are refusing to co operate  while Luke's parents (Julia Blake and Bruce Spence) don't believe that their son did the crime and wants Aaron to investigate. Aaron also deals with the death of  his teenage friend Ellie (BeBe Bettencourt) years before  and then it gets very interesting. It's gripping, thrilling, Brilliant and Superb with Fantastic acting by Eric Bana, Genevieve O'Reilly, Keir O'Donnell, Julia Blake, Bruce Spence, beBe Bettencourt, John Polson and William Zappa. It's based on the novel written by Jane Harper and It's directed by Robert Connolly who also did the screenplay with Harry Cripps.
