Shannon Noll show @ Wynnum RSL Club

On Sunday february 24th I went to Wynnum RSL Club to see Australian singer Shannon Noll which it was my first time seeing him as I had been wanting to see Shannon Noll since 2006 and when I first he was coming to Wynnum RSL I wanted to go which I bought the ticket on Thursday November 1st 2012. I caught the bus to Wynnum on that Sunday night and went upstairs where I saw Rebecca White who is my friend Billy's sister and is an huge Shannon Noll fan which the night before went to see him @ Broncos Leagues Club. Motown Tribute show @ Carina Leagues Club

On Friday February 22nd I went to Carina Leagues Club to see the Motown tribute show done by an local group called Black magic. The show started after 8pm and for the next 3 hours did 2 sets of classic Motown songs as well as other songs from acts like the Temptations, the Four Tops, the Supremes,Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, Martha and the Vandellas etc and the group would change clothes between songs which was interesting and the lead singer Annabel wearing different dresses as well as singing great on the songs she sang lead as well as the other guys who sang really good as well. Classic Album-True Colours Split Enz

This week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1980 album by New Zealand group Split Enz with True Colours which it was their 5th album. The album was recorded @ Armstrong Studios in Melbourne in 1979 with David Tickle producing it as well as engineering it and assistant engineer Scott Hemmings. The album was released in 1980 on the Mushroom label in Australia, A& M(international),Polydor in New Zealand and Chrysalis in the USA which it hit number 1 in Australia on April 14th 1980 where it stayed there for 10 weeks, number 1 in New Zealand, no 10 in Canada, no 38 in the UK and no 40 in the USA and it was this album that gave Split Enz international success although they were working in England and toured America and the Netherlands and having the success in Australia and New Zealand. From the album there were 2 hit singles was I Got You which was an number 1 hit in Australia, number 1 in New Zealand, no 12 in the UK, no 13 in Canada and number 53 in the USA

Barry Gibb show @ Brisbane ENtertainment Center February 16th 2013

On Saturday February 16th I went to the Brisbane Entertainment Center to see last surviving Bee Gee Barry Gibb which it was the first time I saw him live and I had not been to the Entertainment Center since Tuesday february 23rd 2010 when I saw the Motown show with the Friendship Group as well as my friend from work Tara. I have been an Bee Gees since the early 90's which i always love their music with great songs, great harmonies and great songwriters and I had wanted to see the Bee Gees which sadly I never got to as they did the One Night Only concert in Sydney on March 27th 1999 as well as the passing of Maurice Gibb on January 12th 2003 which was an shock and sad and would to love have seen Robin Gibb when he toured here in October 2010 but never got to which of course he passed away on May 20th 2012 from cancer but I had seen Vince Melouney who had played with the Bee Gees from 1967-68 on the early international hits live @ Twin Towns on Wednesday August 11th 2010 which he di

On Friday February 15th I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club to see legendary British 60's group the Searchers which it was my 8th time seeing them and I had caught the bus to Chermside from home which I had Beef Nachos for dinner at the club. The Searchers came on stage @ 8.10pm which for the next 2 hours the group performed most of their famous hits from the 60's as well as some B Sides, albums tracks and other songs and did 2 sets which CD's and DVD's were on sale during the interval and there was the humor on stage between Frank Allen and John McNally which was so funny as well as Frank telling stories about the groups history including the first Australian tour in 1964 and also got everyone to sing along with the songs which we all did. the show finished @ 10.10pm with the guys doing an medley of the hits and they came out after the show to sign stuff like Cd's and DVD's as well as vinyls which people had brought in as well as getting photos with the

This week's classic album segment I'm looking at the 1958 debut album American rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson called Wanda Jackson. Wanda Jackson had been recording since 1954 which she had been recording with Decca and then in 1956 Capitol Records and had been touring around since 1955 with Elvis Presley who had encouraged to sing rockabilly and also had singles like you cant Have My Love which she did that with Billy Gray in 1954 on Decca and I gotta Know in 1956 on Capitol. The recording of the self titled album occurred between 1957 and 1958 in Hollywood at the Capitol Records Tower which she was in and out of there 6 times and on July 21st 1958 the wanda Jackson album was released but did not chart. It's an great album with songs that still endure to this day and the material on this album ranges from rockabilly, country,blues and pseudo calypso which one of the songs from the album that became an single was Let's Have A PArty which would be become an hit

On Monday February 11th I went to see Ringo Starr and the All Starr Band @ the Brisbane Convention Center and this was his first performance in Brisbane since the Beatles concert @ the Festival Hall on June 29th and 30th 1964 as they were the last dates of the famous Australian tour which Ringo was not in Adelaide as he had the tonsils but rejoined the others in Melbourne and did the rest of the dates as well as the New Zealand gigs. when I knew about Ringo was coming out to Australia I wanted to go to see him which eventually I had bought the ticket an month and I was very happy as I wanted to see an member of the Beatles so it came true. It is 50 years ago this year when 3 young brothers who were English born in the isle Of Man lived in Manchester England emigrated to Australian in 1958 which they settled in Brisbane, moved to the Gold Coast and eventually moving to Sydney began recording on the Festival label which they released their first single called the Battle of the blue and Grey and the group was the Bee Gees(Barry,Robin and Maurice Gibb). the early singles were not hits in Australia but eventually in mid 1965 the group had an top 30 hit with Wine and WOmen and in November 1965 their first LP The Bee Gees Sing and play 14 Barry Gibb Songs which exactly an year later in November 1966 their second album Spicks and Specks(that was recorded in Hurtsville) was released along with the title track that had been released in September which went to number 5 in Australia and no 1 in New Zealand and it was in January 1967 that the Gibb Family left Australia to go back to England to have an crack on the international mar

On Saturday February 9th I went to the Mt Gravatt Bowls CLub where I saw the Elvis tribute performer Dean Vegas which it was my 4th seeing him live. the show started at about 7.50pm with the support act Dr hook tribute show which they did an really good set and there was an interval. then Dean Vegas came on stage and for the next 2 hours he did 2 sets doing the classic Elvis songs as well as changing stage clothes from the gold and black gear to the blue leather gear and the Las vegas period gear and during Love Me Tender an guy who is 80 years old was doing the singing while Dean was walking through the audience shaking hands and kissing the ladies as well as during Little Egypt an lady name Jules came on stage doing the dancing which she was great and also even gave teddy bears to the kids in the audience which was wonderful. On Sunday February 3rd 2013 I went to the Brisbane Convention Center to see legendary British singer Cliff Richard which it was my second time seeing as my first was @ the Brisbane Entertainment Center on February 21st 1998 with my friend Steven Peters, his mum Glenda, his uncle Colin and His Aunty Nadia and Olivia Newton John was performing at that show too which it was an great show that night. Classic Albums segment is back and the first one for the year we are looking is the legendary album from 1966 by legendary British blues band John Mayall and the Blues Breakers called Blues Breakers John Mayall with Eric Clapton. John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers had been around on the British blues music scene since 1963 with leader,guitarist, keyboards and singer John Mayall which would have many line up changes of musicians with Mayall at the helm as well as launching pad for many future musicians who would go on to great success with successful bands. Last night February 1st I went to Easts Leagues Club to see Brisbane group the Avengers which it was my 3rd time this year and it was my 12th time seeing them as well. I caught the cab to the club as my dad went to chandler to help people who been affected by the floods and I had dinner there which I had Beef Nachos. The show started @ 7.30pm and for the next 4 hours they did 4 sets of great songs by people like Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, The Eagles, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, The Bee Gees, Cliff Richard and many others and during one of the breaks I said hello to Mick and Graeme which graeme asked me about the wet weather and he said to me that he was worried the office might get flooded but it was safe also during one of the sets they did Venus for me.
