Classic Albums-Blues Breakers John Mayall with Eric Clapton

Classic Albums segment is back and the first one for the year we are looking is the legendary album from 1966 by legendary British blues band John Mayall and the Blues Breakers called Blues Breakers John Mayall with Eric Clapton. John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers had been around on the British blues music scene since 1963 with leader,guitarist, keyboards and singer John Mayall which would have many line up changes of musicians with Mayall at the helm as well as launching pad for many future musicians who would go on to great success with successful bands. The recordings for this album was done @ Decca Studios west Hampstead in London in March 1966 and the line up of the Bluesbreakers at the time which besides from Mayall were bassist John McVie who been with them since 1963, drummer Hughie Flint had been with them since 1964 and on lead guitar Eric Clapton who had been with them from April-August 1965 when he left the group the Yardbirds and rejoined the Bluesbreakers in November that same year. The album was released was released on July 22nd 1966 which went to number 6 in the UK and it was at that time that eric Clapton was leaving the Bluesbreakers to form an band with bassist Jack bruce who did an stint with the Bluesbreakers for an time in 1965 and drummer Ginger Baker who had played with Jack in the Graham Bond Organisation that was to become Cream who went on to great success even though it lasted 2 years. This album was produced by Mike Vernon who would go on to form an label called Blue Horizon and the engineer was Gus Dudgeon who would go to work with ELton John in the 70's and other additional musicians on it were Alan Skidmore on tenor saxophone, on baritone saxophone John Almond and on trumpet Derek Healey. It's an Great album which sounds brilliantly to this day and the songs are excellent too(5 songs were written by John Mayall as well as covers) which sounds great as well with the brilliant guitar playing by Eric Clapton who sings lead on Ramblin on My Mind which he had been reluctant to record and it was this album that got him world wide fame which he is still going strong today and also it is one of the most influential blues albums as well as starting the now legendary combination of the Gibson les Paul guitar through an overdriven Marshall Bluesbreaker amplifier which it's amazing.
