Suzi Quatro Tribute Show @ Carina Leagues CLub

On Saturday november 24th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see the Suzi Quatro Tribute show which had Brandi and the Badcats and it was my 1st time seeing that show in brisbane as I have seen that show twice down the Gold Coast @ Coolangatta first @ Wintersun on Sunday June 8th 2008 and last year @ Cooly Rocks On Saturday June 11th 2011 and both were FANTASTIC. The show started @ 8pm and for the next 2 and an half hours Brandi and the band belted the classic Suzi Quatro's songs with Reno's brilliant guitar playing, Stephen's guitar playing was excellent too with Julian's excellent drumming and keyboards by David and it was the 2nd time this month I've seen Brandi as I saw with the Badcats doing the rockabilly stuff 2 weeks before. On Friday November 23rd I went to QPAC Concert Hall to see Class of 69 which it's an tribute to the ladies of 60's and this featured legendary Australian singer Little Pattie which it was my 7th time seeing her live. I caught the bus to South Brisbane which I got the QPAC @ about 7pm, bought an poster and an CD of Bec Laughton, had an drink of water, went inside and waited. the show started @ 8pm with Little Pattie came on stage and for the more 40 minutes doing an set of classic songs from the 60's as well as 2 of her famous hits from the 60's He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy and Stompin At maroubra and also told some stories of her career. In March 2013 legendary 50's rockabilly American singer Wanda Jackson known for hits like Let's Have A PArty, Mean Mean Man, I Gotta Know, Honey Bop, Fujiyama Mama and many others is touring Australia which she will play in South Australia, Victoria, 2 shows in New South Wales, Queensland and the Bluefest Festival in Byron Bay during the Easter Weekend. She has just released an new album called Unfinished Business which was produced by US singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle and is still going strong as ever. On Saturday November 17th I went to Morningside Services club to see rockabilly group West Texas Crude which it was my 2nd time this month That I saw them as I saw the group 2 weeks ago @ the Acacia Ridge Hotel for BrizVegas Kustom Karnival. The show started @ 7.30pm which for the next nearly 4 hours they did 4 FANTASTIC sets doing original songs and covers of classic rockabilly songs and it was when we had the thunderstorm and raining which had happened throughout the day and also happened during the show but did'nt stop the show. This week's classic album segment I am looking at the 1966 album by Australian group Steve and the Board called And The Giggle Eyed Goo. Steve and the Board began in Brisbane as The Board City Blues in 1965 which they moved to Sydney and began recording for the Spin label which was owned by Nat Kipner whose son Steve was in Steve and the Board. their first single was called The Giggle Eyed Goo which was written by Nat Kipner and it went to no 4 in melbourne, 34 in brisbane and number 44 in Perth with Rosalyn was number 18 in brisbane and the title album was released in 1966 which it was recorded @ St Clair Studio in Hurstville an suburb in Sydney but did not chart. On Saturday night November 10th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see Brandi and the Badcats which it was my 13th time seeing them and 1st time this year as I was going to see them on March 9th but could'nt go as i was seeing Belinda Carlisle @ kedron Wavell and had bumped into Reno during cooly Rocks On on Saturday June 9th. The show had started @ 7.30pm which I only just arrived to the club as I caught the bus from Cannon Hill to Carina and for the next 4 hours Brandi and the Badcats would perform an mixture of original songs as well as rock covers which sounded great with Reno playing great guitar as well as excellent singing with Brandi singing and playing double bass which was great too, stephen the other guitar player played great as well as singing well including doing leads on Everybody trying to be my baby and excellent drumming by Julian. On Friday November 9th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see Hi Way 1 which it was my 8th time seeing them and my 3rd one this year. The show started @ 8pm with Hi Way 1 starting off with the song Unchained My heart and for the next 3 and an half hours they did songs from the late 60's,70's,80's and 90's from The Divinyls, John Cougar mellencamp, Fleetwood Mac, Ac/Dc, The Doobie Brothers and others. In the 2nd break I saw VAnessa, Kevin and MIke and had an chat with Mike which I asked about the live CD which he said it will be out on new years eve and he has watched what I've been doing on Facebook. The show finished @ 11.30pm with Hi Way doing Cheap Wine and thanked Vanessa and Mike for the show. For this week's classic album segment let's have an look at Graham Nash's debut solo album Songs For Beginners from 1971. By 1971 Graham Nash had been in 2 successful groups The Hollies the successful English group which he formed in 1962 and played on hits like Just One Look, Look Through Any Window, Here I Go Again, Bus Stop, On A carousel and many others until 1968 when he left due to creative differences and joined forces with Stephen Stills(Buffalo Springfield) and David Crosby(The Byrds) to form the group known as Crosby Stills and Nash which they had success straight with the debut self titled album in 1969 and were joined by neil Young(Buffalo Springfield) that became crosby Stills Nash and Young and had success with the album Deja Vu album in 1970 which At the wake of the success of the album, the 4 guys made their own solo albums. The Magical Mystery Tour movie by the Beatles was filmed from 11 September-September 25th 1967 which was an idea by Paul McCartney and it was filmed in Kent at an airfield RAF West Mailing, West Country England which included Devon and Cornwall, raymond revuebar an stripclub in London and Nice France where the clip for the song Fool On The Hill was filmed and also the main inspiration was that Paul McCartney had been creating home movies prior to the filming. On November 20th 1975 British band the Who were playing at the the Summit in Houston Texas as part of their US tour as to support the album they recorded that year on October 3rd with The Who by Numbers which had the hit single Squeeze Box and the footage of the concert has never been offically out as it has been an bootleg in poor quality and it's finally out on DVD which it has been restored. It's an ROCKIN and AWESOME DVD which the shows rocks and the Who were at their peak at the time playing just great and the setlist of the songs are just BRILLIANT with their famous hits from the 60's up to 1975 at the time like My generation, I Cant Explain, Substitute, MAgic Bus as well as an section of Tommy and the tracks from the Squeeze Box album. On Sunday November 4th I went to the Acacia Ridge Hotel to attend the BrizVegas Kustom karnival which was put together by lori Lee. I arrived @ Acacia Ridge Hotel after 12.15pm as i caught the bus from the city where i had KFC for lunch.
