Stan and Ollie

On Saturday Mum and I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Stan and Ollie. It's 1953 and with their successful years in the movies behind them Stan Laurel(Steve Coogan)and Oliver Hardy(John C Reilly) are touring Britain for an farewell tour which was promoted by Bernard Delfont(Rufus Thomas) and starts the tour in small venues which were empty but then organises some public appearances which leads them to fill in the large venues which goes well and are also trying to do another film together this time about Robin Hood which they are supposed to meet the producer but Stan is told when he goes to the office that the project is cancelled. They are joined by their wives Lucille(Shirley Henderson) and Ida (Nina Arianda ) and there is tensions between them as well as Oliver having health issues which Stan is offered have to an English comic to take Ollie's place as well as Ollie intending to retire and it gets interesting. On Friday I went to the QPAC Concert Hall to see the legendary British rock group The Hollies which it was my second time seeing them. Dad took me to Cannon Hill, went to the bus stop, caught bus, got off @ South Bank, went to Cactus Republic and Rang home. Had Nachos for dinner, drank Pepsi max, walk to QPAC, bought program and cap, ate chocolate, went inside and waited. The Hollies came on stage @ about 8pm with the current line up with members since 1963 Tony Hicks on Lead Guitar and Vocals and Drummer Bobby Elliott, Pete Howarth on lead vocals since 2004, Steve Laurie on guitar and vocals since 2004, Ray Stiles on bass and vocals since 1986 and Ian Parker on keyboards since 1991 and did 2 sets doing the classic Hollies hits from the 60's and 70's as well as the song Weakness from the 2006 album Staying Power and an song called Priceless and some stories being mentioned including being in the USA in the 70's when they met Bruce Springsteen as well as being in Brisbane

This is the autobiography of former founding member of the legendary 70's singing group Boney M and in this book she talks about her upbringing in Jamaica, moving to England in the early 60's, having an son at age 16, moved to Germany where she sang with a band, forming Boney M who would achieve great success throughout the 70's which she was them until 1990, surviving cancer 5 times and many others. It's Brilliant and Superb with AWESOME, Brilliant and entertaining stories as well as enjoyable and very impressive and I enjoyed reading it. Marcia is still working and Eddy Grant who was from the British 60's group The Equals does the foreword. It's an must for 70's music fans as well as Boney M fans and I give it 4 and an half stars which it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed.

Tonight I went to the Balmoral Cinema where I saw the movie On The Basis Of Sex. Ruth Bader Ginsberg (Felicity Jones) joins the Harvard Law School which she's studying to be an lawyer and she also does her husband Martin's(Armie Hammer) studies as well when he fell ill with cancer which he survives and moves to New York where he is hired by a firm and takes an job as a teacher at Rutgers Law School. This is the new album by legendary Australian singer-songwriter Brian Cadd which he has achieved his dream of recording an Americana album of original songs and it has 2 re-recorded versions of Silver City Birthday Celebrations Day and A Little Ray of Sunshine which he did with Axiom in 1970 and it was recorded in Nashville with legendary Australian record producer Mark Moffatt who lives in the USA with musicians who played on this album played with people who played with Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson and others. It's an Fantastic album with great songs and an great sound with great singing by Brian who still sounding great at 72 and is currently on the road at the moment which he's done show with Russell Morris including Brisbane last Friday night. Last night I went to see legendary Australian singers Russell Morris and Brian Cadd @ Kedron Wavell which it's my 15th seeing Russell and 9 times but them together 5. Dad took me to Cannon Hill, caught the bus to Chermside, went to kedron Wavell, went to the Cafe, had Nachos for dinner, drank Coke, ate Sundae, went to the Blue Pacific Room, saw Michael and talked. Russell Morris and Brian Cadd came on stage and for the next hour and 45 minutes performed their classic hits from the 60's and 70's as well as some new songs including tracks from Brian's new album Silver City which was released yesterday as well as Russell's new songs from an new album that will be released in April which he has worked with Bernard Fanning from the Australian rock band Powderfinger as well as telling stories and jokes as mentioning Russell living in Queensland and Brian living in Byron Bay some of the time and Woodstock USA as well as the people singing along to the songs and some peopl
