Stan and Ollie

On Saturday Mum and I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Stan and Ollie. It's 1953 and with their successful years in the movies behind them Stan Laurel(Steve Coogan)and Oliver Hardy(John C Reilly) are touring Britain for an farewell tour which was promoted by Bernard Delfont(Rufus Thomas) and starts the tour in small venues which were empty but then organises some public appearances which leads them to fill in the large venues which goes well and are also trying to do another film together this time about Robin Hood which they are supposed to meet the producer but Stan is told when he goes to the office that the project is cancelled. They are joined by their wives Lucille(Shirley Henderson) and Ida (Nina Arianda ) and there is tensions between them as well as Oliver having health issues which Stan is offered have to an English comic to take Ollie's place as well as Ollie intending to retire and it gets interesting. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT, SUPERB and Very Entertaining with Top, Fabulous and Brilliant acting by Steve Coogan, John C Reilly, Rufus Thomas, Nina Arianda, Shirley Henderson and Danny Huston. It's directed by Jon S Baird, Jeff Pope did the screenplay and Faye Ward produced it. I give it 5 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and see it which it has an nostalgic look at an era when things were changing for entertainment and you will be impressed.
