The Ventures show April 1961

This is from the Telegraph April 17th 1961 and on this day iconic American rock group the Ventures who was known for the hit single Walk Don't Run played at the Festival Hall in Brisbane along with Connie Francis, Bobby Vee(his first Australian tour also), Johnny Burnette(You're Sixteen), Donnie Brooks who did the original version of Mission Bell which was later an hit for PJ Proby in 1965 and Australian singer Col Joye and the Joye Boys.

4IP April 1965

This is from the Sunday Truth which would later be the Sunday Sun April 25th 1965 and until 1991 when it became Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's popular music stations which among their disc jockeys was John Knox who had been with 4IP since 1962 as well as had been with 2RG, 4BH and 4LG which while he was on 4IP did the breakfast show and would go on to work on 4BK, back to 4BH in the 80's, B105 and 4KQ until 2006 which he would make appearances over the years as he would be on Laurel Gary and Mark's last Breakfast broadcast Friday June 24th 2022 and was interviewed by Murray Shoring on the very last broadcast before it ended June 30th 2022.

Challengers

This afternoon I went to the South bank Cinema to see the movie Challengers. Art Donaldson(Mike Faist) who is an professional Tennis Player is on an losing streak and is married to Tashi Duncan (Zendaya) who coaches him as well as being an tennis player until an knee injury ends her playing career. Art plays in the Challenger Tournament which in the final he plays against his former best friend Patrick Zweig(Josh O'Connor) who was also the boyfriend of Tashi which things will get interesting. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT Acting by Zendaya, Mike Faist, Josh O'Connor who had played Charles Princes Of Wales in the Crown, Darnell Appling and AJ LIster. Duets Ghost On The Canvas Sessions Glen Campbell

This is the new collective album which features duets using Glen Campbell's original vocals with artists including Carole King, Eric Clapton, Brian Wilson, Brian Setzer, Linda Perry and Sir Elton John as these reimagined tracks from the 2011 album Ghost On The Canvas which was the farewell album for Glen Campbell who was battling Alzheimers at that time which he would pass away from it in 2017. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC songs as well as the duets are just sounded FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT and it is well worth listening to as it sounds so good. Dave Kaplan and Julian Raymond are the producers and it's nearly 7 years since Glen Campbell passed away but the great music he made lives on forever. This is an must for Glen Campbell fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

This is the new compilation CD by legendary American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen and on this CD it has the recordings from 1973-2020 which the including the classics Born To Run, HUngry Heart, Dancing In The Dark, Born In the USA, the Oscar Winning song Streets of Philadelphia as well as album tracks including Atlantic City, Growin Up, Thunder Road and many others. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC songs which had stood the test of time which still sounds great today as it did back which great songs endures and these are songs that you never get tired of. Bruce is currently on the road doing 1 more American show and in May until July touring Europe as well as USA and Canada shows in August until November and I hope he does come to Australia. This is the new 3 CD compilation by legendary American rock band the Eagles and on this 3 CD set which the first 2 CD's has the hits and album tracks from 1972-2007 including Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Take It It The Limit, One Of These Nights, Lyin Eyes, Hotel California, New Kid In Town and many others and on the 3rd CD it has live recordings from 1976-2018 including Seven Bridges Road which was an hit for the Eagles in 1980. It is AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT songs which has stood the test of time and still sounding great to this day which you can never get tired of these songs as it is still appreciated. This album has all original songs including the title track and Mark produced the album with Guy Fletcher who played in Dire Straits from 1984-95 as well as Guy playing on the album which among other musicians playing on it including Richard Bennett, Glenn Worf, Jim Cox and John McCusker. This afternoon I went to the Dendy Cinema to see the movie Back to Black which it's about the iconic British singer Amy Winehouse. Upcoming singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse(Marisa Abela) along with her father Mitch(Eddie Marasan) and Nan Cynthia(Lesley Manville) who was an singer herself have a love of music and starts performing at the The Dublinl Castle which she is seen by Nick Shymansky (Sam Buchannan) who is impressed with her performance and signs her up with Island Records which she has a hit with the album Frank and goes to an pub where she encounters an man called Blake (Jack O'Connell) who would go out together as well as breaking up but getting back which they eventually marry, has an new manager Raye(Ansu Kabia) and continues to have success but is having issues with alcohol and drugs which gets interesting. This is the paperback edition of the autobiography of English singer-songwriter and guitarist of the English band Lush Miki Berenyi and in this book she talks about her bringing in North London, her parents' divorce, being abused by her grandmother, meeting future Lush bandmate Emma Anderson while being at Queens, played in the band Bugs, formed Lush in 1987 who would achieve in the 90's with EP's like Mad Love and Sweetness and Light, the Mini album Scar and 3 albums including Spook, encounters with Jane's Addicition and Pearl Jam, the passing of Chris Acland and many others. It is excellent with very impressive and very entertaining stories which it is well worth an read. Rouge Traders @ Cleveland Sands

Last night I went to Cleveland Sands to see Australian group the Rogue Traders which was the first time I have seen them. I caught the bus to Cleveland, went to the Cleveland Sands, rang Dad, ordered my meal and use mobile. Had Chicken Parmigiana, chips and Salad for dinner, drank Coke With No Sugar, ate Chocolate Brownie, drank Water and paid my meal. Went inside, got wrist band, waited, use mobile, drank Coke with No Sugar, thr DJ was starting to play music at 8pm which lasted for an hour and local singer Andy Martin came on stage with Maisy Taylor who is an local singer which they performed for about 40 minutes doing their own songs as well as some covers incuding the Fleetwood Mac song Dreams wbich they did an really good set. There was an interval and bought myself an Coke with no sugar. Then the Rouge Traders with Natalie Bassingthwaighte and James Ash came on stage after 10.20pm which they did their songs including Beat of The Drum as well as We're Gonna Have A Good Goo

This is the new album by legendary Australian singer-songwriter Brian Cadd and this was recorded on the Gold Coast @ LWM House. It was songs written by Brian Cadd as well as some co written including the title track and the album is his first real country album that he has ever done as he wrote country and country rock songs in the past. Among the musicians that play on the were Kirk Lorange on slide guitar on one track, Gus Fenwick on bass, Lawrie Minson and Peter Robinson who plays with Russell Morris on guitar as well Vika and Linda doing backing vocals on one track. Last Night I went to the Koala Tavern in Capalaba to see legendary Australian band The Black Sorrows which it was my 3rd time seeing them as well as my 6th time seeing Joe Camilleri. Dad took me to the shopping centre, drank Pepsi Max, caught bus to Capalaba, walk to the Koala Tavern went to the Bistro, rang Dad, Had Rump Steak, chips and salad for dinner, drank Coke With Sugar and ate Chocolate Brownie. Went to the bar, drank Coke with No Sugar and watch the support act Sean Power and the Main Street band who are an Brisbane group which they did an very good set and played very well. There was an interval which I had an Coke With No Sugar to drink and wrote notes. It went to number 30 in the UK and they are doing shows in the UK throughout the year which they are doing also the 3rd and last show @ The London Palladium tonight. This is the latest album by legendary American singer Dion and on this album he performs with female singers including American country singer Carlene Carter daughter of American country siner June Carter , Canadian Blues singer Sue Foley, American blues singer Rory Block, American soul and country singer Maggie Rose and many others as well as the songs on the album are written by Dion DiMucci and Mike Aquilina except 1 track he wrote with Scott Kemper. It is an FANTASTIC album with FANTASTIC songs and great singing by Dion who is still singing great at the age of 84 85 on July 18th and he produced the album with Wayne Hood who also played on the album as well as the mastering. It has gone to number 1 in the USA Top Blues album charts and still performs which he will be doing an talk at the Fordham Unversity on April 22nd. This morning I recieved an message on facebook by Jenny Richards(my facebook friend) who is the daughter of Australian singer Digby Richards which she told me the sad news that musician Mike Lawler who played bass guitar with her father in the R'Jays in 1961 which they would go on their own becoming the Rajahs passed away late last night which I was very sad to hear that and I replied to Jenny that I was sorry to hear about Mike passing away which I had the pleasure of meeting him which he was an very nice man which I thanked Jenny for letting me know. Mike Lawler played with the R'Jays in 1961 replacing original bass player Pete Baker when they were touring Queensland and then went on their own after leaving Dig Richards which they continued to perform as the R'Jays in the clubs for a few years before becoming the Rajahs in 1964 which they did an number of recordings on the Festival label which included an version of Kiss Me Now and Cathy's clown and 2 EP'
