Jim Hansen and the Sonics @ the Sandgate Town Hall

Last Saturday November 23rd I went to the Sandgate Town Hall to see local act Jim Hansen and the Sonics which it was my second time going there as I went there only an year ago and I would have gone there on May 25th but I had an problem with my shoulder and I emailed the organizers as I wanted to cancel but they couldn't refund it so instead I got an complimentary ticket which was very good of them to do that. I walked to the bus stop at Carindale, caught the bus to the city, went to Central Station, ate chocolate bar, drank coke, caught train, got off at Sandgate and walk to the Town Hall. saw robyn and Ken from work, spoke with Robin from the Sonics, got ticket, went inside which I went to the Port Douglas Table, saw Gary, Roger from the Avengers and his wife Laura, drank Coke Zero, talked, saw Jim, there was taped message on video by Nicky Steele who sings with the Sonics at Sandgate but could not be there as she was helping with the bushfires, there were announcements and

Last Sunday I went to Dendy Cinema to see the music documentary Suzi Q which it's about American born British singer Suzi Quatro and in this documentary she talks about her bringing in Detroit, performing with her sisters in the Pleasure Seekers which became later on Cradle, leaving for England in 1971 where she would great success throughout the 70's with hits like Can The Can, Devil Gate Drive, Tear Me Apart, 48 Crash, Daytona Demon, Stumblin In and many others, trying to crack America, doing Happy Days as Leather, personal issues with her sisters and many others and interviews besides Suzi herself Joan Jett, Andy Scott(Sweet), DOn Powell(Slade), her ex husband and musician Len Tuckey, Mike Chapman who wrote many of her hits, her children Laura and Richard, her brother Michael and sisters Patti and Nancy, Alice Cooper, Henry Winkler, Debbie Harry, Kathy Valentine and many others. Tonight I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Knives Out. novelist Harlan Thornbey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate by his housekeeper Fran(Edi Patterson) the police arrive and Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is somehow enlisted to investigate the crime which the Thornbery family including daughter Linda(Jamie Lee Curtis), son in law Richard(Don Johnson), Daughter in Law Joni (Toni Collette, housekeeper Marta (Ana De Armas), grandson Ransom(chris Evans) are questioned which first it is suicide but then Blanc goes through red herring and self serving lies to get the truth and it gets interesting. It's FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT as well as Funny and very entertaining with top and FANTASTIC acting performances by Christopher Plummer, Don Johnson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Daniel Craig, Edi Patterson, Ana De Armas, Chris Evans, Katherine Langford and others. Life and Soul by William Roache

This is the 3rd book written by British soap opera William Roache who plays Ken Barlow on the British soap Coronation Street and in this book he talks about the losses of his second wife Sara and close friend as well as cast member Anne Kirkbride as well as the court case in 2013-14 which he was found not guilty as how his approach to life has helped him through times with love, hope, strength, forgiveness and positive thinking and others. It's excellent, impressive and very entertaining as well as an enjoyable and inspirational read and William is still on the show which he's been there since the very first episode December 9th 1960 as he is also the longest male cast member in an long running TV serial. This is an must for Coronation Street fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which I'm sure you will be impressed and amazed and also may it inspire you in your life. I am reviewing the paperback version.

Barefoot Pilgrimage by Andrea Corr

This is the memoir of Andrea Corr an member of the legendary Irish family musical group the Corrs and in this book she talks about having 5 miscarriages before eventually having 2 children, singing with her siblings who would achieve great success in the 90's and 2000's, the loss of her parents, her upbringing in Dundalk Ireland and many others. It's excellent, Fantastic and very entertaining with impressive and great stories as well as enjoyable and it is worth an read. The Corrs are still around which they released an album Jupiter Calling 2 years ago. This is an must for fans of the Corrs and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which I'm sure You'll be impressed and amazed.

This is the book written by Peter Asher record producer and an member of the British 60's singing duo Peter and Gordon and in this book he talks about each letter that had about anything Beatles or the solo work as well as people who influenced the Beatles, the key players of their story, the instruments they played, the innovations they pioneered and many others. It's an BRILLIANT, SUPERB and an FANTASTIC book with FANTASTIC and very entertaining stories told by Peter which it's very enjoyable and well worth reading. Peter still produces and also performs which he was in Australia a few months ago with Albert Lee an British guitarist. This is an must for Beatles fans as well as music fans and I am giving this 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed.

In this book he talks about his early upbringing in Australia, moving to America where he lived in New York, his parents split up at an young age, his mother remarried an jazz musician named Walter, moving to California, playing trumpet in an school band, starting smoking weed, met Jack Irons, meeting Anthony Kiedis at high school, meeting Hillel Slovak who turned him on to rock music, played in Anthym, What Is This and Fear which would lead to the formation of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and many others. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB as well as impressive, very entertaining and an real honesty with FANTASTIC stories and it's an great read. Flea is still with Red Hot Chilli Peppers which they are currently working on their 20th album. This is the book that has been put together by Sue Pieters Hawke the daughter of former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke and it has people talking about as well as person including John Mangos, Jeff McMullen, Dennis Lillee, Mal Walden, Bill Shorten, Gareth Evans and many others. It is FANTASTIC and Impressive as well as entertaining and enjoyable understanding the man behind being Prime Minister of Australia and an job well done by his daughter who put this together. It's been 5 months since Bob Hawke passed away but has left behind an great legacy for what he did as Prime Minister and will never ben forgotten. I give this 4 stars and it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed.

This is the second book by Jo Wood former wife of the Faces and Rolling Stones member Ron Wood and in this book it has photos, notes, artworks and memorabilia that has never been seen before as well as photos with people like Harry Nilsson, Bob Geldof as well as families and many others. It's BRILLIANT, FANTASTIC and SUPERB and it has FANTASTIC stuff on it as well as impressive and an enjoyable one too along with the stories which are impressive too. Jo Wood lives in London and as I said early this is her second book as she write Hey Jo her autobiography in 2013. This is an must for Rolling Stones fans which I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you'll love it.

The Beatlegs @ Easts Leagues Club

Last Saturday I went to East Leagues Club to see the Beatlegs whom I had not seen since New Years Eve 2017 and it's my first time seeing the new line up with Sam doing the George Harrison who is the son of Shaun who plays in the band as Steve Baker passed away early in the year. Dad took me to Easts Leagues Club, went to the Café, saw Maggie and Joan, had Nachos for dinner, drank Coke Zero, ate Cookies and Cream for desert, went to the table near the stage, met Donna and Yvonne and talked. The show started @ 8pm with the guys coming on stage which they did 2 sets and in the first set they did the 1963-66 period which they did many of the Beatles' classics as well as doing Your Bird Can Sing as well as doing Yesterday which was the first time I've seen them doing it and also there was an interval which I met Shaun's wife Vanessa and saw Ellie Steve's wife who I had met in May at QPAC as well as having an Coke Zero to drink. On Friday I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Ford V Ferrari which it's based on an true story. This is the 3rd compilation of the Lost Hits of the 70's and 80's series which recordings from the Fable and Image labels as well as DuMonde label and on this CD it has recordings by the Strangers, The Valentines featuring Bon Scott and Vince Lovegrove, Jon English, The Mixtures, Brian Cadd, Karen Knowles, Pat Carroll, Moscos and Stone, Matt Flinders and many others. Fantastic CD with Fantastic songs which has stood the test of time and still sounding brilliant and great as ever today as they are timeless as well as songs you can never get tired of listening. Warren Barnett did the mastering which he has done an great job and this is an must for Australian music fans of the 70's and 80's which I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you'll be impressed and I'm sure it will bring back memories for those who grew up in the eras.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas by the Seekers

This is the Christmas album by legendary Australian singing group the Seekers and most of these were recorded in 2001 as they were from the Morningtown Ride To Christmas which was long deleted but thanks to Decca it has an rebirth and the opening track was on an charity compilation some years back . Among the tracks includes an Christmas version of their 60's hit Morningtown Ride as well as covers of Christmas classics including Silent Night, Away in A Manger, When A Child Is Born, Children Go Where I Send You and others. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with Judith's brilliant voice as well as those Fantastic harmonies and doing those classic Christmas songs are just Brilliant. Bruce, Keith and Athol have been doing shows as the original Seekers with Michael Crisitano as the 4th member as Judith doesn't perform anymore and the great music the group made is still around and will forever be heard forever. Brittany Forgler (Jillian Bell) who is 28 years old living in New York who like to have a good time and is outgoing who is living with her roommate Gretchen (Alice Lee) is given an warning by her doctor that is to lose weight which she is broke to go the gym as too proud to ask for help. She is lost but when Catherine (Michaela Watkins) persuades her to run which she does one block then 2 when she joins an running group when she meets Seth(Micah Scott) who is gay with 2 children and is running as well as losing weight and meets Jern (Utkarsh Ambudkar) when she is housesitting which they are starting to have an liking for each other as well as her goal is to run in the New York Marathon and it gets interesting. It's an FANTASTIC, Impressive and an entertaining book which he tells it honestly with dignity and an enjoyable read. Mike Willesee passed away on March 1st this year after losing his battle with cancer but leaves behind an great legacy of work that will live on forever and he wrote this book in his final year as he was losing the battle with his illness but at least he got it done. This is an must for Mike Willesee fans and I give it 4 stars and
