This is from the Telegraph February 28th 1974(50 years ago today) and 4BC which is now the talkback station was of Brisbane's very popular music stations at the time which among their disc jockeys was Mike Ahern who worked on Radio Caroline in England back in the 60's and came to Australia which he did the midnight to dawn shift on 2UW before joining 4BC in the late 60's which he would be there until the 70's.

This is the new album by legendary British singer Rod Stewart with British musician Jools Holland and this was recorded at Helicon Mountain, Durrington House and Red Cottage Studios. It has covers of classic swing songs from the big band era which it includes Frankie and Johnny, Them There Eyes, Oh Marie, Pennies From Heaven and many others. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC songs with great singing by Rod Stewart who is still sounding great and does these songs very well when you think 20 years ago when he did the Great American Songbook albums and it was produced by Nitin Sawhney and Phil Manzanera. Lets' hope it does very well which I am sure it will and Rod will be performing in Asia, Europe, America and Las Vegas throughout the year. This is an must for Rod Stewart fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Born A Woman The Complete MGM Recordings by Sandy Posey

This is the double CD set of legendary American singer Sandy Posey and on this double CD set it has the album tracks from her 4 albums she made from 1966-68 as well as the hit singles Born A Woman, Single Girl and I Take It Back as well as the non LP Tracks including Italian versions of both Born A Woman and Single Girl and there is an fantatsic booklet talking about her career which is done by Brian Ward. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT songs which has stood the test of time and still sounding great today as it did back then. Sandy Posey doesn't get enough recognition as she should when you think she had the pop hits in the 60's and having country hits in the 70's and 80's which she had the impact at that time and I am sure Australian music fans would be aware that Australian singer Judy Stone had an hit with Born A Woman which was released at the same time as Sandy's version which they shared the charts in Australia with the s

This is from the Telegraph February 18th 1957 and long before being the Good Times and Great Classic Hits station as well as the Country Station in the 80's 4KQ was the very first Brisbane radio station to play rock and roll music which was done by an American named Hal Gorcey as it happened in 1956 and was on from 6.30pm-8pm. On this advert from February 5th 1968 David was on Monday-Friday from 4pm=7pm and Sundays from 8am-1.50pm and was giving out lucky keys for the Win A Holden contest which there was 10 keys to be won from 6am-10pm everyday.

Issi Dye and Glenn Douglas @ Wynnum Bowls Club(Roy Orbison and Beatles)

This afternoon I went to see legendary Australian singer Issi Dye and Victorian performer Glenn Douglas at Wynnum Bowls Club and I only saw Issi 8 months ago at Twin Towns after Cooly Rocks On. I caught the train to Wynnum from the city, walk to the club, got wrist band, went inside, ordered my meal, bought Coke with No Sugar, rang Dad and saw Issi and Glenn. Had chicken schnitzel, chips and salad for lunch, drank coke with No Sugar, use mobile, wrote notes and did some writing. the show started at about 2.05pm with Issi signing 3 songs and then Glenn joined Issi on stage which they performed the Roy Orbison set doing the classic hits including Only The Lonely, Candy Man, Uptown which they played it twice, You Got It, Lana, Pretty Woman and many others also including an Elvis Presley song as well as I getting an mention by both Issi and Glenn, there was an interval which I got photos with Glenn in the Roy Orbison gear, bought Pork Crackle and Coke with No Sugar, ate Pork Crackle, Dra

Jimi Hendrix Experience Hollywood Bowl August 18th 1967

On August 18th 1967 the Jimi Hendrix Experience were the support act for American group the Mamas and the Papas at the Hollywood Bowl 5 days before the release of Are You Experienced in the USA which they performed in front of 17,000 fans who wanted to see the Mamas and the Papas were caught off guard by showman and musicianship on stage and it was one of the last times they performed as relatively unknowns and this performance is now out on CD as it was recorded on 2 track. The songs on the CD are the setlist they performed at that show including their hit singles The Wind Cries Mary and Purple Haze as well as Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Like A Rolling Stones and Wild Thing and there is an fantatsic booklet that was done by Jeff Slate. This is from the Telegraph February 2nd 1973 and 4BC as we know now is the talkback station was one of the Brisbane's top music stations at that time which the radio personalities who was on the station were Mike Ahern who worked on Pirate Radio the Radio Caroline in the 60's and 2UW, Rosco and Graham Smith who had been with 4BC since the 60's which he was at one time part of the Geoff Tony and Bob team (geoff Atkinson and Tony MacArthur).

This is from the Telegraph February 1st 1966 and 4BC who is now the talkback station was one of Brisbane top music stations at that time in the 60's was doing the Rolling Stones month as it was that month in February 1966 that the Rolling Stones performed at the city Hall Brisbane on the 21st which 4BC doing songs by the Rolling Stones every day and prizes to be won.

This is from the Sunday Mail January 30th 1966 and 4BK until 1990 was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations which among their disc jockeys were Bill O'Brien who on Sundays from 7.50am until 1.30pm had his own show The Bill O'Brien show playing the greatest and latest songs from around the world and Bob Wills who had been with 4BC for an few years in the 60's joined 4BK and was on weekdays from 4pm-7pm as well as Saturdays from 7.15pm until Midnight Party Beat. Also every weekday Graham Kerr's Kitchen was on 8.45am and the serials was still going uncluding Portia Faces Life and Dr Paul.
