Interview with Peter Williams(Max Merritt and the Meteors/The Groove/The Mixtures) the Mixtures and Now Part 3

-all these pictures sent to me by peter Williams 2 months ago I did a email interview with New Zealand singer and musician Peter Williams who was a member of Max Merritt and the Meteors from 1961-67, a founding member of Australian group the Groove and a member of The Mixtures another Australian group which Part 1 was about the Max Merritt and the Meteors period, 2nd part the Groove and here is the 3rd and final part of the interview talking about the Mixtures and Now so enjoy the read everyone. After the Groove I had a deal with MAM music writing songs with a certain amount of success a real big hit would have been desirable but it was elusive but my songs were recorded by quiet a few artists so I can't complain about that. Shindig show @ Carina Leagues Club

On Saturday August 24th I went to Carina Leagues Club where I saw the group Shindig a rock n roll group from the Gold Coast which it was my 3rd time seeing them as I've seen them twice backing up Issi Dye as first @ Coolangatta Golf CLub on Friday June 10th 2005 and 2nd @ Kedron Wavell on Sunday September 12th 2009 but never a whole show in their own and the line-up I saw on the Saturday night were Peter Brown on Guitar and vocals, David Lee Jay on drums and vocals and on bass guitar and vocal Keith Johnson who to those who were around in Brisbane back in the 60's he was in 2 popular groups here in Brisbane were The Planets and the Sounds Of Seven which this show was his first in Brisbane in over 40 years. Hermans Hermits featuring Barry Whitwam show @ kedron Wavell Services Club

On Friday August 23rd 2013 I went to Kedron Wavell Services CLub to see legendary British 60's group Hermans Hermits which features original member and drummer Barry Whitwam and it was my 9th time seeing the group as well as had not seen them since Friday September 2nd 2011 the day after my 33rd birthday. I caught the bus to Chermside which I walked to Kedron Wavell and for dinner had Nachos as well as having a Sundae for desert. The show started @ 8.30pm with the group coming on stage which the line up besides from Barry, Geoff Foot on bass and vocals, Kevan Lingard on Keyboards and vocals and guitar and vocals Paul Cornwell who had just the group and for the next 2 hours and 20 minutes doing the classic Hermans Hermits hits from the 60's as well as classic rock songs and did 2 sets which was a surprise as in all the years I"ve seen the group they always did the one set as well as a few songs when I saw them @ the British 60's Concert at Festival Hall on Saturday Fe

In September legendary Australian group Mental As Anything known for hits like The Nips Are Getting Bigger, Come Around,Too Many Times, If You Leave Can I Come Too, Spirit Got Lost, You're So Strong, Live it Up, Let's Go to Paradise and many others will be playing 3 shows in Queensland. The group who have been on the since 1979 and were formed in 1976 are still touring around Australia with original members Greedy Smith and Martin Plaza and they put on an FANTASTIC show doing their classic hits which brings back memories for the fans who grew up in the 70's and 80's. Let's have a look at the new compilation Boogie Presents Silver Roads Australian Country Rock and Singer-Songwriters Of the 70's. This double CD is the follow up to last year's Boogie Australian Blues R&B and Heavy Rock compilation and this one is the return to roots coin which was country and folk influences which in the late 60's and early 70's Country Rock was starting to make a impact on the scene with acts like the Band,Crosby Stills Nash and Young,Gram Parsons,Bob Dylan etc and some of the Australian groups and singer-songwriters followed it which created a lot of great music. Zoot the Reunion Live

Let's have a look at the live CD by the legendary Australian group from the 60's and 70's Zoot called Zoot Live The Reunion. In November 2011 legendary Australian group Zoot known for hits like Eleanor Rigby,1x2x3x4, Monty and Me and others got back together to perform for Rick Springfield and Friends Cruise that sailed through the Caribbean which it was the first time the group played together since they broke up in 1971 and the line up that played that reunion were Darryl Cotton,Beeb Birtles, Rick Springfield and Rick Brewer which the show was an great success and there were talk of an Australian tour but sadly on July 27th 2012 Darryl Cotton lead singer passed away from cancer aged 62 but the reunion is captured on Cd and DVD. Best Of Bandstand Volume 1 and 2

Let's have a look at the the first 2 Volume DVD's of the legendary music Australian show Bandstand called the Best Of Bandstand. The show began on TCN9 in Sydney in November 1958 hosted by NZ born Sydney newsreader Brian Henderson and this show lasted until August 1972 which it was a launching pad for many acts including Col Joye, Judy Stone, Lucky Starr, Sandy Scott, the Bee Gees, Peter Allen, Helen Reedy, Pasty Ann(now Trisha) Noble, Robyn Alvarez, Dig RIchards and many others as well as having overseas acts too. The Zookeepers @ Carina Leagues Club

Last Friday night August 16th I went to the Carina Leagues Club to see local group the Zookeepers which it was my second time seeing them as my first was at Twin Towns on Friday November 12th 2010 which they were good but the songs they did did not appeal to me so I left early as it was the night when the legendary American groups the Turtles and Three Dog Night were supposed to play there but had cancelled a month before. On the night @ Carina Leagues Club before the show started I Had Lasanga,chips and Salad for dinner, had ice cream for desert and a Coke Zero to drink. The show started @ 8pm and for the next 3 hours and 41 minutes the Zookeepers did 3 sets of songs from the 70's,80's,90's and now which included some Pink as well as ABBA, Blondie, Michael Jackson, Gloria Gaynor and many others which in between sets I bought water. The show finished @ 11.41pm which I thanked the group as well as Megan and got a photo with her and caught a cab home. The show was AWESOM

Daryl Braithwaite Queensland tour

In September legendary Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite is doing another tour of Queensland which starts on September 5th and will last until September 8th. Daryl who is known for being in the legendary Australian group in the 70's Sherbet with hits like Howzat,Summer Love, Cassandra, Free the People, Rock Me Gently and many others as well as having solo hits with You're My World, One Summer, As the Days Go By, Rise and the classic hit the Horses. In his show he performs his stuff with Sherbet as well as solo hits and other classic songs which he always put on a FANTASTIC show and also to those who have not seen Daryl Braithwaite go and see him which I'm sure you enjoy a great show by a true legend of Australian music. IN September legendary Australian entertainer Issi Dye will doing a tour of Queensland. Issi Dye has been on the scene since the 60's appearing on shows like Bandstand, Hit Scene, Happening 70 etc, touring like The Platters,Lonnie Lee,The BEach Boys, Ray Charles and many others and does shows like the Al Jolson Story, Dean Martin and Crooners Swing Show and Rock n Roll Jukebox Show which I have seen him doing rock n roll show which he always puts on a FANTASTIC show doing the classic rock n roll classics. TO those who have not seen him yet but want to see him go and you will not be disappointed which I'm sure you will enjoy his show. Sandie is the remastered first album for legendary British singer Sandie Shaw. The album was released back in February 1965 which went to number 3 in the UK ans it was produced by Kenny Woodman which on it had a mixture of songs written by Chris Andrews an British singer-songwriter including 2 that had been recorded by British singer Adam Faith and covers including Baby I need Your Loving, Downtown, It's In His Kiss, Always and many others and also by that time she had 1 British number 1 hit There's Always Something There To Remind and a top 5 with Girl Don't Come which they were not on the album but it is on the remastered album along with her 2nd number 1 hit Long Live Love along with I'll Stop at Nothing and the b-sides. Mushroom 40 ROck is the various artist double CD as it is 40 years when the record label Mushroom was launched which was founded by Michael Gudinski. In this double CD it has the classic hits from the 70's which includes Skyhooks, Matt Taylor, The Sports, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs,Ol'55, Madder Lake etc, the 80's which includes Paul Kelly, the Swingers, the Choirboys, Ian Moss,Uncanny X-Men, Jimmy Barnes etc, the 90's including Angry Anderson,the Badloves, the Angels,Nick Barker,Cold Chisel etc and the 2000's including Eskimo Joe and 28 Days. It's an AWESOME and BRILLIANT double CD with great songs which still endures after all these years and this CD was compiled and annotated by Jeff Jenkins, audio assembly and mastering done by Warren Barnett and photography and artwork done by Dan O'Brien. This CD is a must for any AUstralian music fans which I'm sure you will enjoy the music and I am giving this 5 stars which it's in the shops now.

In this book it talks about Johnny O'keefe's upbringing in Sydney, began doing Johnny Ray stuff as well as singing jazz, getting into rock n roll after seeing the Blackboard Jungle which Bill Haley did Rock Around the Clock, forming the Dee Jays, began recording for Festival Records, touring the Lee Gordon shows, hosting 4 music shows 6 O'Clock ROck, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing sing Sing and WHere The Action Is, having successful hits with the Wild One, Shout,She's My Baby, I'm Counting On You, Sing, Move Baby Move, Mockingbird and many others, the car accident in 1960, his breakdowns, his 2 marriages, his sad passing on October 6th 1978 and many others. Greazefest 2013

On Sunday August 4th I went to the Rockela Showgrounds for the Greazefest Festival which it has been 5 years when I first attended it and it was my 6th time as well. My sister dropped me off on the Sunday morning @ South Brisbane near the Convention Center, walk to the train station, bought chips and Coke Zero, caught train @ 9.08am and Walk to the Rocklea Showgrounds. I paid $27.00 to get in which when I arrived I saw Misty Wohlman whose sister Angie I went to Buranda Special School with from 1985-94 and had not seen Misty since 1995 when I saw her @ Cannon Hill train station as I was going to school and her going to work @ KFC and also we spoke briefly as well as me ringing up home to tell Mum that I had arrived. The first band came out @ 9.45am which were the Sugarshakers which they did an FANTASTIC set with great singing by Emma and great guitar playing by Rupert, took photos and had a look at the record sale. Romio and Juliette show @ Moreton Bay Sports Club

LAst Saturday August 3rd I went to Moreton bay Sports Club where I saw local singing duo Romio and Juliette(Bruno and Irene) which it was my 2nd time seeing as I saw them back on Saturday May 18th. I caught the bus to the club where I had Pork Steak,chips and salad for dinner and bought a ticket to see an AC/DC tribute show on Friday September 13th. The show started @ 7pm which I stayed only for 3 hours and they did 3 sets when I was there which they did songs by Bobby Darin, Cat Stevens, Bee Gees, Tom Jones, Billy Ray Cyrus as well as some Italian songs and many others and also 3 guys named Wayne,Les and Bob sang a song each during the 3rd set and also Wayne sang a song in the second set. I left the club @ 10.30pm as I caught the last courtsey bus home which Theresa drove the bus as well as meeting Barney. It was excellent show which i had a great time and the duo sounded great together as they have excellent voices and to those who have not seen them go and see them which I'm s
