Johnny O'Keefe Rocker Legend Wild One by Jeff Apter
Johnny O'Keefe Rocker Legend Wild One is the biography about Australian rock n roll icon Johnny O'keefe which it is written by Jeff Apter. In this book it talks about Johnny O'keefe's upbringing in Sydney, began doing Johnny Ray stuff as well as singing jazz, getting into rock n roll after seeing the Blackboard Jungle which Bill Haley did Rock Around the Clock, forming the Dee Jays, began recording for Festival Records, touring the Lee Gordon shows, hosting 4 music shows 6 O'Clock ROck, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing sing Sing and WHere The Action Is, having successful hits with the Wild One, Shout,She's My Baby, I'm Counting On You, Sing, Move Baby Move, Mockingbird and many others, the car accident in 1960, his breakdowns, his 2 marriages, his sad passing on October 6th 1978 and many others. It's an excellent and a great book with great stories and again another great effort done by Jeff Apter who last year wrote the book about Shirley Strachan of Skyhooks as well as doing the other biographies of Marc Hunter, Keith Urban, the Finn Brothers as well as co writing the autobiographies of Kasey Chambers and Mark Evans of ACDC with the support of Barry O'Keefe (Johnny's brother) as well as people like Alan Dale(Australian rock singer), Aussie rocker Lonnie Lee, Leon Isackson(the R'Jays/the Rajahs),Catfish Purser and Johnny Greenan(the Dee Jays), John Laws, John Hansen and many others. It will be 35 years on October 6th when Johnny O'Keefe passed away at age 43 but at least the great music he made from the 50's to the 70's still endures to this day. This book is a must for any Johnny O'Keefe fans as well as fans as Australian rock and I am giving this 4 and a half stars which it's in the shops now.
