Brat an 80's Story by Andrew McCarthy

 This is the memoir of American actor Andrew McCarthy and in this book he talks about his upbringing in New Jersey, did his first acting in the play, Oliver while at school , going to New York where he studied acting @ NYU, behind the scenes from the movies he did including Class, St Elmo's Fire, Mannequin, Heaven Help Us, Weekend At Bernie's, the Brat Pack, working with Jacqueline Bisset, Matt Dillion, Mary Stuart Masterson,  John Hughes and many others. It's an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with impressive and AWESOME stories as well as very entertaining told by Andrew talking about the 80's period and also it is well worth a  read indeed. This is an must for movie fans  and I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves a favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed. 

Live At The Troubadour Glen Campbell

 This was the last recorded live show of American country singer Glen Campbell and this was recorded at the Troubadour on August 19th 2008. On this live album he performs an mixture of his classic hits from the 60's and 70's as well as songs by the Velvet Underground (Jesus), John Lennon (Grow Old With Me), Tom Petty (Angel Dream  and Walls) and many others and is backed by a band which included his sons Shannon on guitar and Cal on drums and daughters Ashley and Debby on backing vocals. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC  songs and great interaction with the audience as well as very entertaining and very impressive. It was produced by Julian Raymond and executive producers were Dave Kaplan, Scott Borchetta and Scott Silver. This is an must for Glen Campbell fans as well as country music fans and  I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed. 

The Wilde Years Richard Wilde

 This is the new CD compilation NZ singer Richard Wilde aka Australian music journalist Richard Wilkins  and this was the time when he was an well known singer in New Zealand with Reckless (his band) and Australia before becoming well known on Australian TV with MTV each weekend on Channel 9 for 6 years from 1987-93  as well as being the Today Show for 24 years from 1994-2018 as well as Today Extra in 2019 and since last year Weekend Today. On this CD it has the songs he recorded from 1977-83  including Ever Since I Felt You Slipping Away, Here For A Good Time, Young Heroes and others with Reckless and on his own.  It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs which sounds great as well as listening to Richard when he was the singer before being the TV personality and it is wonderful to hear his music on CD which it is enjoyable too. This is an must for Australian and NZ music fans as well as Richard Wilkins fans and I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops n

The Seekers Live In The UK

 After their successful Golden Jubilee Australian tour in 2013 the legendary Australian group the Seekers went to the UK for the 15 date farewell tour through Wales, Scotland and England  and it was there that  the group's global success started 50 years before in 1964. The shows are on CD and DVD   which they performed many of their 60's classics  including the hits I'll Never Find Another You, A World Of Our Own, Georgy Girl and the Carnival Is Over as well as I Am Australian and some of the 90's they did as well as some of the songs they didn't perform at the Australian concerts including the gospel medley and others and on the DVD it has a special feature which has an interview with them from 2012 talking about the songs . It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs which has stood the test of time as well as footing taping and sing a longs which you can never get tired of because they are just so good as well as worth listening to again and ag

Gunpowder Milkshake

 On Sunday I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie Gunpowder Milkshake. Sam(Karen Gillan) is an young assassin whose mother Scarlet(Lena Headey) had left town after an job had gone wrong and Sam is working for the same firm her mother had worked for which the boss Nathan (Paul Giamatti) asked her to kill an man who stole the money from the Firm and  get back the money that was taken and  goes to the library which was actually an  Weapons Armory  where she meets 3 ladies Anna (Angela Bassett), Florence (Michelle Yeoh) and Madeleine (Carla Gugino) who knew her mother to exchange weapons and  she shoots the man and  eventually retrieves the money as well getting the   man's daughter Emily (Chloe Coleman). It is discovered the Sam's bullet that killed Emily's father and Sam and Emily become friendly and also Scarlett comes back on the scene which reunites her and friends as well as Sam to stop the henchmen which gets interesting. Beeswing by Richard Thompson

 This is the memoir of British singer-songwriter and guitarist and former member of British folk rock band Fairport Convention Richard Thompson and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Notting Hill and Highgate, getting his first instrument at age 6, playing in bands with Hugh Cornwell who went onto form the British band The Stranglers, formed Fairport Convention in 1967  which he was on 5 albums, Sandy Denny joining in 1968 after Judy Dyble left, the tragic loss of drummer Martin Lamble in 1969 which also killed Richard's American girlfriend Jeannie Franklin, leaving Fairport in 1971 for a solo career, marrying Linda Peters who would be a part of the duo with Richard,  working with Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and and many others. It's an FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB book with FANTASTIC stories as well as impressive and very entertaining talking about the period  of the 60's and 70's  which it's well worth a read. All My Yesterdays by Steve Howe

 This is the autobiography of British musician and member of the Legendary British progressive band Yes Steve Howe and in this book he talks about upbringing in North London, getting his first guitar at age 12, playing in bands the Syndicats, The In Crowd, Tomorrow  Canto and Bodcast, played with American singer P.P Arnold , joined the band Yes in 1970 which he has been an member on and off since then  and was an part of the huge success in the 70's with albums like the Yes album, Fragile, Going For The One as well as hit singles like Roundabout, Don't Kill the Whale and others, his solo career, forming the Band Asia, ABWH and GTR, the sad passing of founding member Chris Squire, jamming with Jimi Hendrix, his 2 marriages and many others. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC stories told by Steve and it's Impressive, very entertaining and enjoyable read. Space Jam A New Legacy

 On Sunday Afternoon I went to the South bank Cinema to see the advance screening of Space Jam A New Legacy which it's the sequel to the Space Jam movie in 1996. Basketball champion LeBron James and Dom his youngest son(Cedric Joe) are having differences as he want his son wants to be basketball player but Dom wants to be an video game developer and they are both trapped in the Warner 3000   Server Verse which it's ruled by Al G Rhythm (Don Cheadle)  and Dom is captured  which it's up to LeBron to get him back and take him home by getting together with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and the other Loony Tunes to play in a basketball match against Al's team  which includes an virtual avatar of professional basketball players which gets interesting. It's FANTASTIC, Very Funny and Very Entertaining with great performances by LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Cedric Joe , Sonequa Martin-Green and the Looney Tunes as well as cameo appearances by actor Michael B Jordan, Sports

The Colt Seavers Band

 On Sunday night June 13th I went to the Coolangatta Sands Hotel to see the Colt Seavers Band and it was my first time seeing this band. I walked to the hotel and use my mobile. The show started @ 6.30pm which they did 3 sets of classic rock songs by Elvis Presley, John Farnham, Guns N Roses, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash, Nancy Sinatra and the crowds there had young people as well as the middle aged  too as well as the sax player walking through the audience as well as the bass player standing on the bass on the stage as well  coming in the audience as Dakota the singer standing on the bass which was amazing  and had an Coke Zero to drink during the interval after the first set. The show finished @ 9pm, rang Dad, bought Coke Zero and Ice Cream from 7-11, ate Ice Cream, drank Coke Zero and walk back to the unit. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had a great time and the band were FANTASTIC as well as very entertaining  singing great songs as well as giving the crowds

Shelley Minson @ Greenmount Surf Club

 On Sunday afternoon June 13th I went to Greenmount Surf Club to see Shelley Minson who has been an regular @ Cooly Rocks On since 2017 and it was my 5th time seeing her there. The show started at 12pm which she did an 2 sets doing songs by Elvis Presley, Wanda Jackson, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis as well as some of the songs she wrote and  the song Frankie and Johnny  and was backed by a great band including her husband Lawrie and bass player Dirk DuBois who plays with the legendary Australian blues band Chain as well as in the second set I got a mention as being one of the supporters  which I appreciate the mention and also Tyler and leeanne  were there too and also during the interval I took a photo for a lady and her friends. Matt Birse and the Brisbane City Gospel Choir @ the Elvis Precinct

  On Sunday morning June 13th I went to the Elvis Precinct for the 2nd time at  Cooly Rocks On  to see Matt Birse with the Brisbane City Gospel Choir doing the gospel songs that Elvis did. The show started at 10am with Dean Vegas doing the compering and the Brisbane City Gospel Choir came on stage doing an number of songs which got the crowd going  as well as Dean telling a story and then Matt Birse came on the stage doing the songs that Elvis performed with the Brisbane City Gospel Choir along with the  back up band doing the backing  which everyone was really enjoying themselves. The show finished at 11am, had a look at merchandise stand and went to Subway for lunch. It was an FANTASTIC show with an FANTASTIC performance by Matt and the Brisbane City Gospel Choir and everyone had a  great time which I look forward to seeing Matt next year. Lucky Seven at the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage

 On Saturday night June 12th I went to see the Adelaide group Lucky Seven for the second time at Cooly Rocks On  but as Lucky Seven at the Queen Elizabeth Stage  and it was a last minute decision for me to go and see as I was going to see the Elvis tribute performer Mark Andrew at the Precinct  but was full up so I decided to go and see Lucky Seven. They came on after Pat Capocci and their show started at 8pm  which they performed the songs they wrote including one about his daughters and it was really crowded which was great to see as I was at the back and sat at a table with a couple from the Sunshine Coast. The show finished at 9pm which they had CD's on sale, rang Dad, bought Coke Zero from 7-11, drank it and went back to the unit. It was an FANTASTIC show which i had an great time and the band were FANTASTIC which they really swing  with great horn and sax players and everyone having an great time which they were truly entertained . Morse Code and the Secret Squirrels at the Dixon Street Stage

 on Saturday afternoon June 12th I went to the Dixon Street stage to see Morse Code and the Secret Squirrels  which they are an  Gold Coast group  and it was my first time seeing them.  The show started @ 2.30pm and for the one hour they did an set of classic songs by Nancy Sinatra, Hermans Hermits, Del Shannon, Patsy Cline and others and they looked  great in the military clothes. The show lasted until 3.30pm , I bought Coke Zero from 7-11. drank it, took photos and went back to the unit. Issi Dye @ the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage

 On Saturday morning June 12th I went to see Issi Dye at the Queen Elizabeth Stage. I came to the area just after the 1st song was done and for the remaining of the set he did songs by the Everly Brothers, Elvis Presley, Johnny O'Keefe, Col Joye and Johnny Cash and others and was backed by Glenn Douglas on guitar and Les on Keyboards and  I was at the back then went towards the front when Issi saw me and said hello when I saw Ray and Tyler and Leeanne were there too as well as at the end of the show as that day was also Issi's 75th birthday singer Shelley Minson and her husband Lawrie came out to sing Happy birthday to Issi which was great. The show lasted until 10.30am and after the show Issi had CD's on sale which he came out to sign them as well as getting photos which I got an photo with Issi as well as seeing Kevin and Diane. West Texas Crude @ Greenmount Surf Club

 On Friday night June 11th I went to see West Texas Crude  at the Greenmount Surf Club  and I had not seen them in about 6-7 years. I walk to the club and did the check in. The show started at 8.30pm and they did 2 sets doing songs by Daddy Cool, The Rolling Stones, Mental As Anything, Eddie Cochran and others which it was packed for most of the night   and had an coke zero to drink as well as seeing Graham, Tracey and Melissa (Lulu Devine) . The show finished @11pm, rang Dad and walk back to the unit. Dezzie D and the Stignrays @ Coolangatta Sands Hotel Friday June 11th 2021

 On Friday afternoon I went to the Coolangatta Sands Hotel where I saw Dezzie D and the Stingrays  who are an Brisbane group and it was my first time seeing them. The show started at 2pm  which they did 2 sets doing an mixture of original songs as well as covers by Ruth Brown, Brenda Lee, Sam Cooke, Duane Eddy etc   which it was  crowded and everyone enjoying themselves  and during the interval I had an coke Zero to drink and I saw Eileen  who I had not seen since 2019. The show finished  at 4pm, bought coke Zero from the Snack Bar and went back to the Unit. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had a  great time  including me and Dezzie D and the Stingrays were FANTASTIC too with great playing  by the guys as well as great singing by Dezzie D which she does the songs so well and getting the crowds entertained. Warren Earl @ the Dickson Street Stage

 Late Saturday morning June 12th I went to the Dickson Street Stage Coolangatta to see Warren Earl and I had not seen them live since about 2009 at Holland Park Bowls Club. The show started @ 11.30am  which they did an set of original songs  as well as Country songs  including Hillbilly fever and South  and everyone enjoying themselves and having an great time with  great playing by the guys as well as an great sound and it was an FANTASTIC show  which i enjoyed it and also I look forward to seeing them again soon. 

Little Stevie and the Tail Fins @ the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage

 On Friday morning June 11th I went to see Little Stevie and the Tail Fins at the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage  and I had not seen them since 2017 at Twin Towns. The show started @ 11am and they did an great set  for the 1 hour doing songs by Eddie Cochran, Dire Straits, The Easybeats and Chuck Berry as well as great version of Rocket 88  with everyone enjoying themselves and having an great time.  The show finished @ 12pm and I went to Subway for lunch . It was an FANTASTIC show with great playing by the Steven and the guys  as well as very entertaining getting the crowds entertained and I look forward to seeing them again soon.
