Let's have a look at the legendary Australian music show Bandstand on DVD called the Best of Bandstand Volume 3 1965-66. In this 5 DVD set it has 18 episodes between 1965 and 1966 and it has appearances of acts including Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Normie Rowe, Merv Benton, Ray Brown and the Whispers, Lyn Randell, The Easybeats, the Groop, Dinah Lee, Col Joye, Judy Stone, Little Pattie, Lonnie Lee, Dig RIchards, Lucky Starr, Laurel Lea, Johnny O'Keefe,John Rowles(J-AR), the Bee Gees, as well as debut appearances of Jacki Weaver and Helen Reddy and special Bandstand episodes including the concert @ Myer Music Bowl which had Little Millie, the Roaring 20's episode, a live show @ the Alpine Hotel Thredbo, the Period Costume episode, an Rock n Roll Special with Little Richard, The SHirelles, Jerry Lee Lewis and Sounds Incorporated, 2 part History of Bandstand episodes with appearances by Bobby RYdell, Dick Caruzo, Bobby Vee, the Diamonds and other overseas acts as well as Australian acts as well, an special episode that had The Rolling Stones,HErmans Hermits,Tom Jones and The Searchers and many others. It's FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with AWESOME and AMAZING stuff from those episodes and the picture quality looks excellent as well and also great to see these acts in their prime at that time as well as the regulars who were on it too. It is great to see these shows on DVD as who would have thought at that time to see these episodes and a great effort done by the Umbrella Entertainment and Channel 9 for putting it out . There will be more Bandstand coming out on DVD in November with 18 episodes between 1967-70 and let's hope they will be more Bandstand shows in the future. This 5 DVD set is a must for any Australian music fan who grew up in that era watching this iconic show for 14 years as well as people like myself who was not born in that era but has a interest in it and I give this 5 stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself a favour and BUY IT.
