Classic Albums- One Of These Nights by the Eagles

For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1975 album by legendary American group the Eagles. The recording for One Of These Nights was at Criteria Studios in Miami Florida and the Record Plant in Los Angeles California between 1974 and 1975 and it was released on June 10th 1975 which it went to number 1 on July 26th knocking out Venus and Mars by WIngs where it would stay @ number for 5 weeks and it was this album that the group became international superstars as well as being established as America's number 1 band. This album was the last album for original founding member Bernie Leadon who left the group after the One Of These Nights tour which he was replaced by Joe Walsh and from it had 3 hit singles the title track going to number 1 on August 2nd where it stayed there for 1 week, Lyin Eyes went to number 2 which it won them a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo Or Group With Vocal and Take it To The Limit number 4 as well as number 12 in the UK with Randy Meisner on lead vocals. The album was produced by Bill Szymczyk which it was the 2nd album he produced for the band as he had produced the On the Border as well as engineered it with Don Wood, Michael Verdick,Ed Mashal, Michael Braunstein and Allan Blazek, photography was done by Norman Seef and Tom Kelley and Gary Burden did the art direction and design on the album as well. It is a excellent album with great songs that still endures to this day and a great sound which it's the great country rock sound with brilliant harmonies which it holds up very well to this day too. Besides the 3 hits the other songs included Visions with guitarist Don Felder on lead vocals, I Wish You Peace with Bernie Leadon on lead vocals which wrote that with Patti Davis daughter of former US President and then Governor Of California ROnald Regan and Bernie did a instrumental called Journey Of The Sorcerer and besides from the Eagles additional musicians that played on it included Jim Ed Norman who did the conducting and string arrangements as well as playing piano on Lyin Eyes and Take It to the Limit,David Bromberg played fiddles on Journey Of the Sorcerer as well as the Royal Martian Orchestra. The Eagles are back on the road at the moment in America which Bernie LEadon is with them and the music they made in the 70's holds up very well today as well as this album is one of the best albums they made besides from Hotel California which was the next one after it and also be sure to listen to this album which it is a great to listen to as I am sure you will enjoy it.
