Go Show Gold @ QPAC

On Thursday night I went to the QPAC Concert Hall to see the Go Show Gold an tribute to the Australian music show the Go Show and it was my 4th time seeing the show which has an lot of great acts of Australian music from the 60's and 70's. Dad took me to Cannon Hill, caught bus to South Bank, went to Cactus Republic where I had Pork nachos for dinner, went to QPAC where I saw Pauline, Maryanne Hambrecht(Ex St Andrews) and her husband, Tyler with his dad, took bag to the cloak area, saw Anne Worsley(Tony's wife), Maggie, Lorraine and Leanne as well as meeting Ellie the wife of Steve of the Beatlegs who passed away recently, went inside and spoke to an lady next to me while on the screen had great clips of Australian acts. The show started at about 8pm with the clips of the acts appearing on the show and Johnny Young came on the stage doing his double sided hit from 1966 as well as introducing the acts which the first came on was Issi Dye which Dream Lover the Bobby Darin hit as well as the 2 songs he recorded in the 70's, the next act came on was Ronnie Burns who had did 3 of his hits including Smiley which was written by Johnny Young who was telling an story about working with the Bee Gees in Sydney as well as being with Barry Gibb in the early 70's overseas, Marty Rhone came on next doing 2 of his 70's hits as well as the Cliff Richard song Dreamin and then the last act of the first was Colleen Hewett doing her hits from the 70's and 80's including Day By Day. There was an interval where I had an ice cream and an Coke Zero, spoke with 2 men I have met at Wynnum RSL and went back inside. The second half started off with Tony Worsley doing 3 of his recordings including Velvet Waters, johnny Young came back on stage which he and peter Robinson the bass player from the Strangers as well as the Thunderbirds and even the Seekers told some stories including John Farnham and sang 3 songs he wrote for Russell Morris and Lionel Rose, then Rob EG came on next which he did 2 of his instrumentals from the 60's, then Lucky Starr which he did 2 Johnny o"keefe songs as well as his 1962 hit I've Been Everywhere and then Normie Rowe came on stage doing some of his 60's hits which then Bobby Bright came on stage doing the 3 big hits that Bobby and Laurie did in the 60's and 70's with Normie doing the harmonies and then the cast came back on stage doing Johnny Be Goode. The show finished at about 11pm, I picked my bag up from the cloakroom, went to the bus stop, rang dad, got off at Carindale, dad picked me up, drank Coke Zero and came home. It was an FANTASTIC show which the singers sounded and played great as they are singing better than ever as well as the back up musicians besides from peter Robinson there was Gil Matthews on drums from Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs as well as Mondo Rock and guitarist with Normie Rowe, Gavan Anderson from Bluestone as well as the back up singers rosie, Andrea and Lindsay Fields who sings with John Farnham were FANTASTIC and did an Fantastic job backing up the acts which they are the hardest working musicians on the stage and also everyone enjoyed themselves hearing these great songs that has stood the test of time and are still fondly remembered after all these years which these songs brings back memories for those who grew up in the 60's and 70's as well as for people like myself, Tyler and others who were not born in the 60's and 70's but have an interest in the music it means a lot to hear those songs live. I am glad that I got to see Marty Rhone, Rob EG and Bobby Bright live which I hope they had come to Brisbane again to do their own shows and I look forward to seeing the Go Show Gold coming back next year which I will definitely go again.
