Classic Albums-Ego Is Not A Dirty WOrd Skyhooks

For this week's classic album segment after a week off let's have a look at the 1975 album by legendary Australian rock group Skyhooks called Ego Is Not A Dirty Word. The album was recorded at TCS Studios in Melbourne between January and May 1975 and it was released in July 1975 which it hit number 1 in Australia on July 21st where it stayed for 11 weeks as it sold 180,000 copies. It was produced by Ross Wilson(Daddy Cool and Mondo ROck) as he had the produced the Living In the 70's album with John French doing the engineering and from this album that it had 2 hit singles the Title track Ego Is Not A Dirty Word and All My Friends Are Getting Married which 9 of the tracks were written by Greg Macainsh including Love ON the Radio with Steve Hill who was the original lead singer of Skyhooks before Shirley Strachan and the other song Every Chase A Steeple written by Red Symonds. It is a great album with great songs which holds up very well to this day and those 2 hit singles still gets a lot of airplay to this day. This was the follow up to the highly successful debut album Living In the 70's and at that time in the mid 70's Skyhooks were one of the biggest Australian groups in the country along with Sherbet and Hush as well as appearing on Countdown. It's 13 years since Shirley Strachan passed in a tragic helicopter crash but his work with Skyhooks live on forever and they are still fondly remembered to this day.
