Brisbane Radio this week in the 50's, 60's and 70's

April 2nd 1955 Johnny Ray who had toured Australia throughout March 1955 promoted by Lee Gordon appeared on Jack Davy's Ampol Show which was on 4BH which management from 4BH made arrangements to rebroadcast it . April 2nd 1970 Mike Ahern who was one of Brisbane's popular radio personalities on 4BC was promoting Elect Your Music on 4BC
April 3rd 1973- 4BK which was one of Brisbane's very popular radio stations at the time until 1990 when it became B105 was promoting Music, news and traffic reports as well as parking reports with Phil Hunt doing the music Monday To Friday from 1pm-4pm and Saturdays 6am to 12 noon.
April 4th 1975- 4BC promoted music shows at the iconic Cloudland Ballroom which had known music acts as well as Brisbane acts and this particuarly day in 1975 had Graham Connors along with other acts Midas, Hotel, Touch and Seasons of the Witch
April 5th 1954- 4BC had an show for Your Favourite Song which had new releases and hit parade tunes and it was on every Tuesday at 12 noon and on 4BH an Western serial called The Twilight Ranger which was on at 4.15pm every Monday, Tuesday Thursday and Friday afternoons April 5th 1966- 4BH who was one of the popular radio stations in Brisbane and still going to this day becoming an classic hits station now and their radio personalities Bill Gates, Graham CHerry and Dal Myles doing the top 40 which they were on Monday to Friday 4pm to Midnight and all day Saturdays and Sundays.
April 6th 1963- 4BH doing the all day music with Bill Gates, John Laws, Barry Matheson, Brian Henderson and Ben Bicksdale and yes it's the same Brian Henderson who hosted Bandstand and doing Channel 9 news in Sydney. April 6th 1964- Tony MacArthur who was one of 4BC popular radio personalities along with Geoff Atkinson and Bob Down did an Beatles show from 8pm-8.30pm every night
April 7th 1965- Bert (Birdbrain) Robertson who was one of Brisbane radio personalities on 4BC use to do the 12pm-2.30pm every day
April 8th 1960- Jim Sweeney who was one of Brisbane's well known radio personalities on 4BH had shows with Rumpus Room Monday To Friday, Music For Moderns Saturday mornings at 8am, Your Kind of Music Sunday Nights at 6.30pm and Swing Easy Sunday nights 7pm.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song

Roland Storm , Bryan Davies and the Mighty Guys show @ South Tweed Sports Club June 6th 2015

On Saturday June 6th I went to the South Tweed Sports Club in the evening where I saw legendary Australian singers Roland Storm and Bryan Davies as well as the rock group the Mighty Guys. Dad took me to the Club, signed in, went inside, bought an Pepsi max, drank it, saw Mick Hamilton(had not seen since Sunday June 9th 2013) and Leon Isackson and waited. The show started after 8pm with the Mighty Guys doing a few songs which were classic rock n roll songs with lead vocals done by both Leon Isackson and Mick Hamilton and then Roland Storm and Bryan Davies came on stage which they did a few songs together which then Roland did his set which he performed an set of classic rock songs as well as doing his hit from 1992 with Rolling With the Flow and there was an interval which Roland was selling CD's as I already have them but he came which people bought them as well as seeing Mike Lawler which I mentioned to him about the Rajahs version of a Beatles song on the Australia Salutes the
