Classic Albums: Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys

I am starting an new segment on this blog a look at the classic albums of the rock'n'roll era the most known ones and some not well known but deserves recognition and these albums deserves to among the best albums of all time as well being played again and again. Let's start off with the landmark album by the The Beach boys "pet Sounds. The inspiration for the this album was when Brian Wilson songwriter, producer, bass guitar and singer of the Beach Boys had heard of the Beatles album "Rubber Soul" in December 1965 and it inspired him to make the greatest album, the greatest rock album ever made. The recording of the album mainly through january-April 1966 and some parts had been recorded in July & November 1965 and Brian's collaborator on this album was Tony Asher who was an lyricist and had been an copywriter who wrote most of the songs on the album and terry Sachen who was the group's road manager at the time co wrote "I Know There's An Answer". The album was released in the USA on May 16th 1966 which it was never an huge success in the USA even though it went to no 10 and in England it went to no 2 which it was an huge success and it was embraced by considerable support by the UK music industry including Paul mcCartney which inspired him to make Sgt peppers. It's an great album that endures after 45 years with great songs like "Would'nt Be Nice" no 8 in the USA and no 2 in Australia, God Only Knows (B-side USA no 39 and A-side UK number 2) with Carl Wilson on Lead vocals, Sloop John B an traditional folk song which Al Jardine had suggested Brian to do, I'm Waiting For the Day, Caroline No (an Brian Wilson solo single went to no 32 in the USA), I just Was'nt Made For These Times, Let's go Away for a While, Pet Sounds, Here Today and many others. It's an classic album that still gets appreciation and many artist like elton John, Eric Clapton have cited this on the classic albums of all time which it's is. I love this album which even though it's not the fun in the sun, surf, cars, hot rods stuff it has songs about growing up and love in the songs and I have to say that brian Wilson did an excellent job doing this album which he was changing the music and keeping the up with the time at the time when the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan were dominating at the time. 1966 was certainly was an year landmark for albums. Pet Sounds is still in the shops and it's an must for any 60's/Beach Boys fans.
