Gary Puckett and the Union Gap at Twin Towns

Last Saturday night February 25th I went to Twin Towns for the second time that weekend to see legendary American singer Gary Puckett with the Union Gap and it was my second time seeing gary as the first time was at Kedron Wavell Thursday March 5th 2009 as I have been wanting to see him live again which I finally got my wish. I walked to Twin Towns, Saw Ray and his wife as well as meeting Cliff an Brisbane musician who played in an band called Jug Band in the 70's which he talked his experiences as well as talking about working with Chuck Berry in 1976 in Brisbane, went inside and waited. The show started at 7.59pm with Anita Spring coming on stage doing an Olivia Newton John segment which she sounded great and finished off with Tenterfield Saddler and also there was an interval which i stayed inside. Gary Puckett and the Union Gap came on stage which they showed clips of him back in the era from the Ed Sullivan Show and started off with Lady Willpower which for the next hour and an half performed the classic hits from the 60's as well as songs from the albums which was mainly covers as well as telling stories about his career including encounters with one of the Bee Gees as well as Elvis Presley in Las Vegas in 1970 as well as the origins of the group and many others as well as doing an song for the vets called Home and finished off with Pretty Woman. The show finished before 10.10pm, saw Wendy and Jamie, there was no CD's on sale nor Gary didn't come out, went with Ray, Cliff and their wives to the walkway hoping he might come pass to sign stuff but I decided after a while to go back to Greenmount, rang Dad and walk back to Greenmount. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had an great time and I had an great time and Gary is still sounding great at age 80 as well as very entertaining getting the crowd to sing along which he still has it. I hope he comes back to Australia very soon and I am glad to have seen gary live again.
