My Song is the autobiography by legendary American singer and actor Harry Belafonte. In this book he talks about his upbringing in harlem and Jamaica, served in the US navy, worked at the American Negro Theater, joined the Dramatic Workshop of the New School where he took acting classes along with people like Bea Arthur, Tony Curtis, Walter Matthau and others, won an tony award for his performance in John Murray Anderson's Almanac, sang with the Charlie Parker Band, began recording for an label called Roost then eventually recording RCA Victor where he would have greater success with the Banana Boat Song, Jamaican Farewell, Jump In the Line, Matilda and others as well as breaking into Hollywood with movies like Island In the Sun,Carmen Jones, Odds Against Tomorrow, etc where he would break down many racial barriers that would lead to a passionate lifelong involvement with the civil rights and social causes and many others. it's an BRILLIANT and an excellent book which Harry tells an lot of great stories about his life and career as well as people he befriend like john f kennedy, bob dylan, robert kennedy, Martin Luther King and others. it's an must for any movies and music fans as well as Harry Belafonte fans too and hope you enjoy reading this book. I give this 4 and an half stars and it's in the shops now
