The Wickety Wak Years @ Wynnum Manly Leagues Club May 10th 2014

On Saturday May 10th I went to Wynnum Manly Leagues Club to see Rob, Greg and Tony of Wickety Wak as well as Laura doing the Wickety Wak Years show as it was my 5th time seeing the guys as it was my 5th time seeing them live and I had not seen them live since Saturday August 18th 2012 @ Mt Gravatt Bowls Club doing the That's Rock n Roll show. I caught the bus from Cannon Hill to Wynnum which I walked to the club, rang home, went to Bistro where I had Chicken Kiev, chips and salad for dinner, had an Chocolate Sundae for desert, went inside, saw Judy who works at the merchandise stand at the Wak shows where I bought the DVD of Wickety Wak performing at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in 1990 when they broke up and an Laura Doolan CD doing Olivia Newton John songs which has been released and had an drink of water. the show started @ 8.30pm with the Wak Boys coming out on stage and for the next 2 and an half hours the guys performed 2 sets which they classic pop and rock songs including stuff by the four seasons, Elvis, the Village People Louis Armstrong as well as Rob doing the Rainbow Connection which he sounded great on it as well as Greg telling stories about the group like how it got together as well as the early gigs they played as well as mentioning playing @ Wynnum Manly in 1976 as well as the great humor which made everyone laugh and also at one point in the second set Tony Jeffrey was dressing up as Dolly Parton doing Behind Closed Doors walking up towards me which was interesting and funny as it did'nt bother me as well as him sitting on a man's lap a few tables down as well as Laura singing 2 songs which she sounded great. the show finished after 10.50pm and after the show the guys came out to sign stuff which I got autographs and photos with them as well as Judy showing me the photos of her and Lionel Richie and John Farnham which was great and also Dad picked me up which we went to my cousin Allan's to pick up Mum and then eventually came home. It was an BRILLIANT show which the guys sounded great and the music and humor which was just BRILLIANT and they are well worth seeing again and again and also to those who have not seen the Wak Boys go and see them as you shall enjoy with great music and humor as well as being entertained by a great act who are still fondly remembered in Brisbane after all these years.
