The Best Of Bandstand Volume 5(1960-62)

The Best Of Bandstand the legendary Australian music show is out on DVD and this is volume 5 which has 11 episodes between 1960-62. In this 3 DVD set it has appearances of artists like Col Joye, Judy Stone, the Delltones, The Allen Brothers including Peter, Johnny Rebb, Lonnie Lee, Adam Faith, John Leyton, Bobby Rydell,the Dekroo Brothers, Jimmy Little, Patsy Ann Noble, Ian Turpie, Lucky Starr and many others as well as dance time spots, audience contest and specials like New Faces Special and the Country Style Show. It is SUPERB,BRILLIANT and AWESOME as well as very entertaining and so enjoyable and the footage looks excellent too. It is great to see this legendary Australian music show back on DVD again as the first 4 volumes as well as the Live Specials that were released last year were very successful and I am so glad that it is out again. It is 42 years that Bandstand finished as well as 56 years when it started and it is still fondly remembered to this day by many Australians who watched that show and also it is great to see the footage of the acts who were around at that time in their prime as well as some of the new ones who were starting out like Ian Turpie and also the Peter Paul and Mary special is out at the moment as there will be more Bandstand coming out on DVD in the next few months with the Hollies and Hermans Hermits special from 1970 and 1969, the Cilla Black and the Shadows specials both from 1968 and the Dusty Springfield Special from 1967 as well as volume 6(1963),Volume 7(1964-65), Volume 8(1966) and volume 9 (1967-68)so let's hope for them to be successful as well so we can hope for more Bandstand in the future. I would like to say great job to both Umbrella Entertainment and Channel 9 for putting this show on DVD again and this DVD is a must for any Australian music fan as well as for those who watch Bandstand in the 60's which I'm sure it will bring back memories for them as well as those like myself who was not born in the 60's but has liking for it which I am giving this 5 stars and it's in the shops now so do yourself an favour and BUY IT.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song

Roland Storm , Bryan Davies and the Mighty Guys show @ South Tweed Sports Club June 6th 2015

On Saturday June 6th I went to the South Tweed Sports Club in the evening where I saw legendary Australian singers Roland Storm and Bryan Davies as well as the rock group the Mighty Guys. Dad took me to the Club, signed in, went inside, bought an Pepsi max, drank it, saw Mick Hamilton(had not seen since Sunday June 9th 2013) and Leon Isackson and waited. The show started after 8pm with the Mighty Guys doing a few songs which were classic rock n roll songs with lead vocals done by both Leon Isackson and Mick Hamilton and then Roland Storm and Bryan Davies came on stage which they did a few songs together which then Roland did his set which he performed an set of classic rock songs as well as doing his hit from 1992 with Rolling With the Flow and there was an interval which Roland was selling CD's as I already have them but he came which people bought them as well as seeing Mike Lawler which I mentioned to him about the Rajahs version of a Beatles song on the Australia Salutes the
