Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song
Georgina Parkin (Lynn Redgrave) who lives with her flatmate Meredith (Charlotte Rampling) is an well educated Londoner with considerable musical talent as well as teaching dance to children but on the other hand believes her to be overweight as well as plain and never had an boyfriend. She has an liking for James Leamington(James Mason) an businessman whose Georgina's parents were working for him and for Jos Jones (Alan Bates) who is Meredith's boyfriend which Meredith who plays violin is pregnant with Jos' child and then it gets interesting. It's an FANTASTIC movie with Top and FANTASTIC performances by Lynn Redgrave in her Oscar Nominated role for Best Actress, James Mason in his Oscar nominated role for Best Supporting Actor, Charlotte Rampling, Alan Bates and the Redgrave's mother Rachel Kempson and it was also nominated for Best Original Song with the title track done by the Australian group The Seekers written by Tom Springfield and Jim Dale as it was number 1 in the USA and Australia and number 2 in the UK and for Best Cinematography(Black and White). It was directed by Silvio Narizzano and produced by Robert A Goldston, Otto Plaschkes and George Pitcher as associate producer. This is an must for 60's movie fans and I give it 4 stars as it is the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
