Classic Albums-Cliff Richard I'm No hero(1980)
Sorry For being slack last week but I am making up for it as we have a look at the 1980 album from british singer Cliff Richard called I'm No hero. Cliff was having an successful period from 1976 through to the early 80's having successful hits and albums like Devil WOman, We Don't Talk Anymore, Miss You nights and others and albums like I'm nearly Famous, Every Face Tells A Story and Rock'N'Roll juvenille and he started the 80s' with this album. The album was recorded at Riverside Studios from May 12th-June 27th 1980 with Alan Tarney who had written We Don't Talk Anymore as well as producing it again was producer on it as well as playing bass on it with Trevor Spencer on Drums, Michael Boddicker and Nick Glennie-Smith playing Synthesisers, Alan had lived in Adelaide who been in the James Taylor Move in Adelaide with Trevor Spencer, Kevin peek and Robert (RJ) Taylor who had 2 singles on the Festival label MAgic Eyes and baby Jane as well playing in the Kevin Peek Trio and Quartet as well as Alan played with the Shadows from 1973-77 as well as the Tarney-Spencer Band. I'm No hero was released iN September 1980 which went to number 4 in the UK(going Gold), no 28 in Australia and no 80 in the USA and had the hit singles Dreamin which was no 8 in the UK, No 10 in the USA and no 4 in Australia, A Little In Love which went to no 15 in the UK,no 17 in the USa and no 66 in Australia and Give A Little Bit More that went to number 41 in the USA. This is one of Cliff Richard's finest albums and he is just excellent on this singing singing great as he always does and alan wrote 8 of the 10 tracks on it including dreamin with leo Sayer, Rod Bowkett wrote In the Night and andy Hill wrote Give A Little Bit More with Jonathan Hodge which andy would go on to work with Bucks Fizz. this album holds up very well today and it sounds as great today in 2012 as it did in 1980 and the songs holds up very well as well as an great sound on the album too.
