Old Rockers Get Together 2012

On Sunday march 25th I went to the Riverside Ballroom for the annual Old Rockers get Together which raises money for the QIMR and It was my 3rd time seeing the show. The show started at 11am with the first band Poor Man's Sons which throughout the day had Brown Sugar, The Hucklebucks(an early rock'n'roll band in Brisbane in the 50's & 60's who appeared on the Hi Fi Club on Channel 9 in brisbane hosted by Johnny James), Winkles featuring Vance Lendich from the Planets and daryl Wright from the Dominoes, the sonics with Jim Hanson, the Trendsetters and Gingerbread. the highlights on the day were the appearence of Betty mcQuade's Sister Rachel as there was an tribute to betty McQuade who passed away on Boxing day last year, I won an scratchee when I anwsered an question about Johnny Chester's back up in the 70's which it was Jigsaw, got an CD by Bob Blight of the Sonics which was the live performance of the Flamingoes back in 1992, getting the Teen beat CD by Toni and Vance Lendich(which it was an local music show in Brisbane on QTQ9 in the 1960's hosted by Geoff Atkinson and sadly no footage of the show exists but there is an live recording of the show which was taped on a mono tape at the slowest speed as possible.), meeting Huck berry(the Hucklebucks), Vance Lendich(the Planets)Stan of the Poor Mans Sons, Russell and Peter of Brown Sugar, Johnny Gray(the G Men and The Flamingoes), Former disc jockey John Knox and Barry Wirth(The Embers)as well as meeting my Facebook friend Andrew as well as Ross and David and got 2 magazines from ANdrew which had interviews with Brisbane musicians from the 60's and Winkles doing charlie brown the coasters Brian gagen of the Planets did the bass vocals.i saw Vivian and her husband Bob as well as Judy who works with Wickety Wak at the show as some of the musicians i met last year Brian gagen of the Planets, Daryl Wright, Mike Steiner and the sax player from the Dominoes which I asked both Daryl and Mike about the 50th anniversary show for the Dominoes which will be in September and the venue might be at the Nundah memorial Hall, and Mick the guitarist as well as Bob and Jim hanson from the Sonics,barry Larter and I had chicken,chips and salad for lunch. the show finished at about 5.45pm which i caught the ferry back to Norman Park and Dad Picked me up.
