Classic Albums- Back In Black AC/Dc

This week's classic album is the album from 1980 by legendary Australian rock band AC/DC called Back In Black which it was their 7th album in Australia but 6th overseas and it was their first album with new lead singer Brian Johnson who replaced lead singer Bon Scott when he died from alcohol poisoning aged 33 on february 19th 1980. The 1980's began with the band developing an new album which some of the songwriting for it had been done when Bon Scott who had joined in 1974 replacing original lead singer Dave Evans and prior to AC/DC had been in the Spektors, the Valentines and Fraternity and also had been on the classic songs like It'a A Long Way To The Top, High Voltage, Highway to Hell, Let there Be Rock, TNT and many others as well on the albums from High Voltage to Highway To Hell died after heavy drinking at an club called the Music Machine in LOndon and sleep in an car owned by an friend called Alistair Kinnear which sadly the next day found Bon lifeless which he was rushed to Kings College Hospital where he was pronouced dead and it was revealed that he died from alchol poisoning. the band had considered quitting but eventually continued and had considered having people like Buzz Shearman(Moxy), Terry Slesser(Back Street Crawler), Noddy Holder(Slade) and even Stevie Wright of the Easybeats but eventually Brian Johnson who was from the ENglish group Geordie became the new lead singer for AC DC which he is still with them 32 years later and they eventually finish writing the songs for the album. the recording of the album that became Back In Black began at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas from April- MAy 1980 which was not easy for them as their equipment got held by customs and tropical storms had wreaked havoc on the electricy at the studio. Robert John "Mutt" Lang who had worked on the Highway to Hell album with AC DC the year before produced the album with engineers Tony Platt, Jack Newber and Benji Armbrister and Brad Samuelsohn doing the mixing. The album was released on July 25th 1980 which it went to number 1 in the UK and Australia and number 4 in the USA where it would stay there for 131 weeks and from it had the hit singles Hells Bells, Black IN Black, You Shook me All Night LOng and Shoot to thrill. It's an BRILLIANt and ROCKIN album which still rocks to this day and the songs are just as great today as it was back in 1980. For AC/DC who began 1980 with the sad loss of Bon Scott and with the blessing of Bon's parents continuing on with Brian as Lead singer and with this album being an huge success it proved that they would continue on and have been going to this day. this album is the 3rd highest selling album of all time, the second highest selling album by an band, best selling hard rock album of all time, the best selling album ever released by an Australian act and it's the 6th highest selling album in the USA and it's still an CLASSIC after all these years.
