Rock n Roll Spectacular 2013

On Sunday I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club for the Rock n Roll Spectacular show which it is to raise money for the Endeavour Foundation and it was my 7th time seeing the show as I was not @ Last year's show as I was on holidays in Melbourne so i had seen that show since Sunday November 6th 2011. I caught the bus to the city and another bus to Chermside which I walked to kedron Wavell and also had nachos for lunch as well as a Sundae for desert. The show started @ 12pm with the first act being Wally and the Gators doing a set of classic rock n roll songs which a lady named Suzie performed with them on a couple of songs, then the next act was Johnny Gray a legendary Brisbane singer who has been around since the 60's as he performed with the G-Men and the Flamingoes which included Bob Blight of the Sonics, Darryl Wright of the Dominoes and Jim Cerenzo of the Blue JAys and did a FANTASTIC set doing classic rock n roll stuff which Wally and the Gators backed him up and there was a quick interval where I bought 2 Johnny Gray CD's- Rock n Roll and A Tribute to Neil Diamond. Davo came on stage which he did 5 songs, then compere and radio legend Graham Webb announced a UK tour coming up next year as well as doing Cooly Rocks ON next year. Barry Larter came on next which he did a great set doing the classic Johnny O'Keefe songs and Pauline got him a drink as well as me getting a photo taken with Johnny Gray and also after a quick interval Dennis Knight came on which he did a FANTASTIC set doing a mixture of Gene Pitney,Roy Orbison, Bobby vee etc as well as having 2 of the members of the group the Black Cats doing the back ground vocals along with Denise. A lady named katie talked about the Endeavour Foundation , did the raffle and the Sonics came on stage which they did a GREAT set doing classic Shadows stuff as well as other instrumentals including a song they recorded in 1963 @ 4BC called Wahine written by 2 members of the group Garry McDonald(guitarist) and Rod Kippen (guitarist) and also they did the instrumental set only as Jim Hansen who would sing with them was having a break this year. There was a raffle, there was a auction, the Black Cats came on stage doing 3 songs and then Chris Knight came on stage doing the Buddy Holly songs as well as other classic rock songs which he was great. The last act of the show was Ian B MacLeod which he did a great set doing classic rock and country stuff and it was during his set I bought his CD Return to Six O'Clock Rock. The show finished before 5pm, met Chris Knight which I got a guitar pick from him which it was great, got a photo with Graham Webb, got a autograph and a photo with Ian B MacLeod, caught a bus back to the city and caught a bus home from the city. It was a FANTASTIC show which everyone had a great time including myself and the acts were FANTASTIC too as well as a job well done by Ian Stokes and his team as well as Graham Webb doing compere work too despite not having a bigger crowd as there were no big names this year but it was a great one anyway. Besides from Ian Stokes I saw Madonna Robinson,Pauline, Ian B MacLeod, Julie Watkins(Wally's wife), Sandra, Colin, Graeme(Matthew's Uncle), Fay, Kevin, Di,Bob,Vivian,Dave,Wally,Heidi,Lester Vickary, Barry Larter and Bob Blight of the Sonics and I look forward to seeing the next year's Rock n Roll Spectacular which will be great. set List- Wally and the Gators- Jenny Jenny Stuck On You Ole Time Rock N Roll Rockin Robin Rock N Roll Girls Surfin USA When Will I Be Loved Do You Wanna Dance Johnny Gray- Move It Shakin All Over Midnight Special You're Sixteen Johnny Be Goode Living Next Door To Alice hey Baby Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On Davo- Running Scared Pretty Woman Folsom Prison Blues That's Armour You'll Never Walk Alone Barry Larter- She's My Baby Sing So Tough Come on and Take My Hand Move Baby Move Shout Dennis Knight- Viva Las Vegas Runaway Crying Take Good Care Of My Baby Walkin with My Angel You Are So Beautiful Half Heaven Half Heartache I'm Gonna Be Strong American Trilogy The Sonics- Apache The Rise and Fall Of Flingle Blunt Shindig Frightened City Theme For Young Lovers The Boys The Savage Hawaii Five O Wipe Out Wahine (written by Gary and Rod) Avalon Stomp Bombora Shadoogie The Black Cats- Twenty Flight Rock Mercy Mustang Sally Chris Knight- Peggy Sue It's So Easy Heartbeat Ready Teddy Everyday Think It Over Maybe Baby La Bamba Summertime Blues Johnny be Goode Ian B MacLeod- Hello Marylou Only The Lonely Honey Don't Love Song Of the Waterfall That's Alright Mama Be Bop A Lula Rose Marie Blue Suede Shoes Over The Rainbow
